I keep saying I have to have one done as well.

I really must get one done. Having no close relatives left to even arrange my funeral now, I will have to make the lawyer my executor and tell him what I want done and just get the house cleared, expenses paid and the estate can go to charities I support. I certainly don't want my brother or his family getting their hands on a penny.

Good morning fellow retirees.
Following all the kerfuffle around Mrs TKK's brother dying intestate, we have decided to have our wills done. We did have two wills drawn up by a local solicitor many years ago, but the office is no longer around and we didn't have a copy to keep at home ( as far as I can remember) .
I suppose it is best to use a " proper " Solicitor than one of these cut price jonnies, after all the cost will be coming from the kids inheritance.
Any one had recent experience?

We used a "specialist" ie not a solicitor but a small company that only does wills and the like......so mid price. They seemed to know what they were talking about and we were pleased with the result. I confess to worrying in case they disappear though.
My auntie insisted on using a solicitor that has been in business for 50+years.
My thoughts on them......
•eye watering charges, even to make slight changes.
•I contacted them recently to make a further change, only to be told they were too busy and suggested another company.

My findings.....none of them give a sh*t once they have your money.

In that case make sure you get very good advice otherwise those relatives can come after your estate ie I read that completely blanking them can be a mistake as it enables them to make a claim.

Barnet,
Good morning all,
Sainsbury's took us by surprise and were on the doorstep at 0700 precisely, I only woke up at 0655.
Tea now drunk, second mug on the way.
MrsP is off to her pilates class this morning, I'll be out with the dog for a long walk, and maybe a pint or two at the Mitre on the way home.
The grass needs cutting again, so once its dried off I'll do that.

Bonjour. This is our last day in Donegal today. Four hours drive to Dublin tomorrow for the pm ferry back to Holyhead. I have checked the weather and it should be ok. Yesterday was horrible, wet and windy all day. The locals here are so friendly and helpful.
Can't wait to get back to Molly. Our daughter is looking after her whilst we are away.

Morning all :hello:

Sun's out and the birdies are singing.
Bit of a pottering day today. Might do a bit of gardening and then attempt to start MrsD's BSA Bantam, which has stood for 18 years in a shed. That should keep me occupied today.

I have to buy everything online accept food. Welcome to the club.
I'm already in the club - 18 years in North Devon.

I've noticed we're now getting thr cool, dewey early mornings as autumn approaches.

FWIW I reckon its going to be a cold hard winter, so I'm well prepared. Mind you, I was well prepared for thr millennium bug to end civilisation and was deeply disappointed when it didn't happen

FWIW I had google FWIW to find out what it meant 😀.
Turned out that I did know but had forgotten. Acronyms are just something else I am hopeless with.

To put your mind at rest..... I spoke to Molley on the phone. She said "Gavroche? who's that"

One for the horticulturalists among the gang. I purchased a few houseplants earlier in the year, and much to my amazement they are still alive, and even thriving! One of the plants is an Antherium, It has produced several extra "flowers" which I understand are not true flowers. I notice that one of them has lumps on one of the poker like leaf protrusions and wondered if I should cut it off in case it is a parasite. This morning I notised several tiny black flies around its elevated root system and wondered how to get rid of them without harming the plant. Any advice will be much appreciated.

I don't know about the lumps but the flies are probably Fungas gnats and can be a pain to get rid of, theres a lot on the internet about them, reducing watering can help, the eggs and lava are in the top part of the soil, a gravel mulch can help as well.

The next village along as a shiny new bypass that only opened yesterday. Last evening I snuck out with Mrs D to do a quick orbit and see what it was like.

It was very nice, well laid out, good sightlines etc, but I did comment to Mrs D about how this would encourage eejuts to use it like a race track and it wouldn't be long before someone came a cropper.

And sure enough, Mrs D tells me that on Felchbloke this morning that js talk that 2 cars were heard by locals "racing" along it, and seconds later they heard the almighty crash as noth cars augered in to the scenery.

I didn't thinking I'd get to say "told you so" quite so soon.
