Well, thats it. I've provisionally bought a house.

Steak, ale and Stilton pie for tea tonight, with spring greens, mashed swede and carrots. And, as the oven is on, roast potatoes.

As I was cooking on our gas hob yesterday I realised that since the Smart Meter part installation last week when the guy only changed the gas metering due to an issue with our Electric Meter cabling, the gas metering hasn't been " fired up " and the digital meter still has a blank screen. I might be getting " free gas " until it's sorted 🔥🤔

Don't get your hopes up.
Ours wasn't reading gas since March - they still monitor usage from the meter.

I thought there would be a way. Although the screen is blank I noticed reference to the internal battery. There's a couple of buttons on the front, tempting to press them 😁

Replying to myself. Before the meter man came I hoovered out the gas meter box, cleaned it with kitchen cleaner and then polished the meter and box with pledge. This is because I thought that all of the meters they visit must be a bit grubby, let's make an effort, then I got a bit carried away 😉

Thanks Davy. I'm strangely,looking forward to it. If it comes off OK - the developer will be buying our house - were liable to be moving early to mid November, so a lot to do meantime!

Well, thats it. I've provisionally bought a house.

We did PX with the house we currently live in. It did cost a bit extra, but, if you take into account the elimination of various costs (surveys etc ) and, the peace of mind, ie no buyer to back out at last minute, I thought it was well worth it.

Aye laddie, back of the fag packet calculations show well be barely any worse off due to no agents fees and reduced solicitors fees and, as your rightly suggest, it just makes life so much simpler.

It's a lovely house, literally on the edge of town overlooking fields. It's a three storey detached and the layout is such that Mini D will have the entire top floor, bedroom, another bedroom as her own living room, and her own bathroom. She's autistic so liable to be with us at home well into adulthood and this'll be as close to a flat of her own as possible without actually moving out.

Three car driveway, garage for the volvo, modest garden, I'm happy.
