Big day today - off to the Food bank office at 10
Long story but before the pandemic I used to volunteer at a local library - doing computery stuff for them
AFter the pandemic they didn;t seem to be interested in me coming back - they had a newCEO so I assume he sorted out the IT support properly at long last - so I have been looking for something else for a while
About 6 months ago I saw a thing looking for an IT person to help with the Food Bank so I applied
For a variety of reasons (mostly an over worked manager) it has taken this long for all the references to be checked and me to be accepted
Me her last week for a quick intoducttory thing
and I start properly today
no idea what they want doing but at least I'm doing something useful again and not just typing weird stuff onto strange forums all day!!
going to be a shock for the grandkids' parents as it means I won't be available on any day of the week to look after the little ones!!!
My Bro (in his late 70s) has taken a voluntary job at a school, helping young kids (age 5-7ish) with their reading.
Just done his 1st stint and enjoyed it.
Very disappointed.
I just got a call from an Asian gentleman. He claimed to be from 'the fraud correction dept'.
I was just in the mood for a wind up so tried to keep him going. He must have smelled a rat as he hung up.
I will have to find something real to do now 😒
I must admit I tend to not give them a chance. As soon as I hear the accent, and "my name is James or similar " I tell them to jog on and put the phone down
I normally do similar but was feeling sorry for myself when he rang.... so decided to take it out on him.
