Have a good one. Your mention of apricots caught my eye, I also take some on a ride. Really good fuel and tasty with it. I tend to carry an emergency gel and a bag of Haribo type sweets but nothing beats proper, actual food.

Yes, I love the flavour which really stimulates the taste buds after litres of water. One has to be careful though. Decades ago , on a sportive, I consumed close to a full packet....................the result was spectacular............I'll say no more  I can't take the sugar from gels these days, it's a medical thing connected with my epilepsy. I like Luchos, a Columbian product, rocket fuel for cyclists.............................................

....................................................no..........................no...........................not THAT Columbian product........................Guava fruit.............they come wrapped in banana leaves so no nasty sticky packaging shoved in the pocket.

That's fixable with the right dietary changes........unless like me you have a genetic profile which results in naturally high cholesterol. That's about 15% of the population. Then you get the statin option.

I’m hoping diet will help if I can stick with it. Eating my porridge at the moment with a generous spoonful of ground flaxseed. I’ve ditched the ready meals and become almost pescatarian as I like fish. Trying to eat more veggies too plus a couple of supplements that are supposed to help.

It’s absolutely gorgeous here. I did a lovely 8 mile loop along the river, up over the hill then back down and alongside the loch and back home.

I have never been told I have high cholesterol
but when I had a mini stroke "they" just put me on them anyway

I will give it a while then ask for the levels to be checked
If possible I would rather not take pills that I don;t need!

I don’t like the sound of the most common side effects which seem to be muscle aches and headaches. Last thing I need. I will do my best to stick with healthy eating and maybe ask for another test after a decent period and see if it has made any difference.

I have on Statins for over a year now, my cholesterol which was only a tad high is now right down in the middle of the normal ranges. I have not suffered any of the known side effects though.
I do eat a healthy balanced diet hardly any processed ready meals but I think it is one of the aging processes that happens, although it can be genetic. My Mother had high levels.

Weird sort of day family wise

It would have been my Mum's birthday - which always feels weird

and they are firing the guns for the anniversary of the Coronation in Hyde park at the moment
The soldiers firing the guns are from my Grandad's old regiment from the First World War
Once I was old enough I was made aware that we never go round there on such a day - or 14th Nov or similar days
Dad might go round sometime but never Mum or me

apparently GrandDad had "seen things" and his injuries could sometime "come back" and his wife knew how to deal with him
sometimes he just stood in the middle of the room or the garden at attention and stayed there for hours

or went for a walk
he just needed to be left alone and checked on

but weird having both on the same day

I am definitely getting more emotional as I get older!!!

I am just munching on a curry. Its got chicken, rice and chickpeas in it and it's a bit spicy. Not sure of the flavour as it's courtesy of my daughter but its very tasty.
