This weather is starting to feel a bit freaky. I’m not sure I can remember such a prolonged hot and dry spell before we have even reached the middle of May. I had a slow wander staying under the shade of trees as much as possible.

Shorts and vest PJs on now and I ain’t moving again.
1995. We'd a hosepipe ban in place before the end of April.
The roads were melting, and in mid-April, whilst in The Lake District, one or two of the group I was with was suffering with the heat.

I refused to take my bodywarmer off though, it weren't that warm.

Oh boy. I cannot recall being this tired in a long time. 84 miles on gravel. 11.8 average. Fortunately we found a shop at around 60 miles. I was very hungry and starting to dehydrate despite drinking copious amounts of water. 5.5 litres on the ride.

Mrs P had made a delicious tea which I polished off in moments. I then continued refuelling on cheese and ham sandwiches.

A tough, tough day.
