Constant gearchanges - unless you still fancy yourself as a boy racer your next car should be an automatic.

I've never enjoyed driving an automatic as I find it difficult to make the car respond as I wish. I'm probably old school but on a twisting, often climbing road like the A82/A85, I like to change from 4th to 3rd to drive through a bend. At low speeds, as yesterday, my car actually needs this. If we'd been travelling faster, 45/50, that wouldn't be necessary. It's a question of control, not boy racering.

I love cruise control and use it at every opportunity but I've never heard of adaptive cruise control. I wouldn't buy a car without cruise control and air-conditioning.

Morning. After one of the most horrendous spells of binge eating I’ve ever had yesterday, I don’t even feel like getting dressed this morning. It’s incredibly humid and my body feels so swollen I don’t even want to put clothes on.

I know that feeling, it's horrible and always makes me feel cross with myself. 24 hours and it will pass but it feels rotten at the time.

My cars, for the last 40 odd years, have been manual gearboxs. I prefer it in a car.
Trucks, however, are nearly always semi-automatic..
Trucks had various combinations of gearing. Six speed with half gears was probably the most common.
My usual Scania is semi-automatic 12 speed with overdrive with manual override.

Older gearboxes could be a bit of a challenge for unprepared drivers šŸ˜‚

The Eaton Twin-Split was great fun to drive ... šŸ‘ šŸ˜‚

Good morning all.
It's pretty scorchio already.
The animals have been fed, and two of them have gone out, Harry has come in after his nightly patrol and is now on the bed looking smug.
The first of the bin lorries came down an hour earlier than normal 05.38. I presume they are out earlier because of the heat.

Good morning. It's been a hot, sticky humid night even in our little cool stone cottage. I've drawn the blinds and curtains to keep the sun out.

The holiday washing is on, should get that on the line before I leave to collect granddaughter #2. A quick tidy round followed by a bath as Mrs P is asleep meaning if I go near the shower I risk death.......think Psycho 🤣

On Wednesday I have a colonoscopy booked. Today I have to start the preparatory diet. It looks miserable, the only positive about today's diet is tomorrow and the "meds" will be far worse. 😲

Didn't get below 19 Celciuses here last night. We're OK with the aircon, but once you step outside the bedroom...

Still, it's all ammunition in my quest to persuade Mrs D to move with me back to Scotland. When I mention it now she doesn't instantly dismiss it.

I have been dead set against them all my life, preferring to be in control of gear changes myself, but for the last couple of years I am warming to changing to automatic if I ever change my car. Maybe it’s an age thing, but it does feel like it would allow me to concentrate more on the road.

I started driving automatic in the 70s as I was up and down to London every week, so much more relaxing.

I have to phone to book an appointment for a colonoscopy, I hate them and dreading it..

Morning all.
I say chaps (and chapesses) it's jolly warm.
Where my daughter and family are (Bourdeaux) was the hottest part of France yesterday. Fortunately its next to the sea (ocean ?) and they have a pool.

Apart from booking my colonoscopy I have little to do. I will get my normal short walk in.

Adaptive cruise is a revelation….& coupled with a modern automatic, makes driving so much more serene and less stressful šŸ˜Ž
Keeps a gap from the vehicle in front…useful on motorways as well as in crawling traffic in towns šŸ’Ŗ
Modern autos are night & day compared with ones from 15+ years ago: just as economical as manuals, smooth as butter. EVs even more so (one gear!) šŸ¤“

Having watched my FIL lurching away from our house in his manual (many years ago), MrsMikeIOW took it on herself to try to ensure he didn’t need to drive again by helping out a LOT, which took a lot of time & effort from 28 miles away….& I decided we ought to move to autos whilst we still enjoyed driving, to help those later years get safer šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Take it easy today, it’s gonna be a hot one 🄵

Good morning, found a spare digital thermometer and now know that it's 25 degrees in our bedroom, 23 downstairs. No through breeze either. Off to the local park for a jog before it gets too warm. Mrs Tkk is heading up to London on Thursday on family duties, back in August but I will pop up from time to time to visit.
