Constant gearchanges - unless you still fancy yourself as a boy racer your next car should be an automatic.
Morning. After one of the most horrendous spells of binge eating Iāve ever had yesterday, I donāt even feel like getting dressed this morning. Itās incredibly humid and my body feels so swollen I donāt even want to put clothes on.![]()
I have been dead set against them all my life, preferring to be in control of gear changes myself, but for the last couple of years I am warming to changing to automatic if I ever change my car. Maybe itās an age thing, but it does feel like it would allow me to concentrate more on the road.

Good morning. It's been a hot, sticky humid night even in our little cool stone cottage. I've drawn the blinds and curtains to keep the sun out.
The holiday washing is on, should get that on the line before I leave to collect granddaughter #2. A quick tidy round followed by a bath as Mrs P is asleep meaning if I go near the shower I risk death.......think Psycho š¤£
On Wednesday I have a colonoscopy booked. Today I have to start the preparatory diet. It looks miserable, the only positive about today's diet is tomorrow and the "meds" will be far worse. š²
I've never enjoyed driving an automatic as I find it difficult to make the car respond as I wish. I'm probably old school but on a twisting, often climbing road like the A82/A85, I like to change from 4th to 3rd to drive through a bend. At low speeds, as yesterday, my car actually needs this. If we'd been travelling faster, 45/50, that wouldn't be necessary. It's a question of control, not boy racering.
I love cruise control and use it at every opportunity but I've never heard of adaptive cruise control. I wouldn't buy a car without cruise control and air-conditioning.
