Good morning all fellow retirees.
A cloudy start to the day here, and due to be all day.
Order of the day is , breakfast, dog walking and then cycle to the local market for some bits and pieces. The pharmacy has now done my prescription so I will collect that at the same time. I was hoping for it yesterday, but the email came in too late for me to get there.

Good morning folks. Grey and warm today. Plenty to do with a new HW tank being installed next week. It's pressurised so looking forward to more powerful showers than we get at the moment with a header tank in the loft. Had to do a bit of DIY to allow access to the older tank, but I recently purchased a " Japanese " saw and that did a brilliant job 👍
Meanwhile time marches on, eldest daughter will be 50 in a few days😮

We had a pressurised HW tank installed when the bathroom was redone a couple of years back. It works really well, and the drencher in the shower is exceptional.

I've just ordered a 20 ton hydraulic press to replace the 6 ton one I've already got.
I tried to separate a Bantam crank with my smaller press and it wouldn't touch it.
It won't laugh at the big one!

Morning. I took the car through to the next village for petrol as I prefer it to our local station plus the car needed a run. I think that’s only the second time this year I have put petrol in as I use it so seldom.

I stopped at a little nature trail half way home and walked there for a change. It’s only barely a mile round the loop so I walked it four times to make up a reasonable distance. Nothing much on the pond apart from a few ducks.

Will take the microwave to the tip today. Disappointed as my Dad's DeLonghi microwave is 35 years old and still going strong, but mjne lasted not 5 years.

The older ones were much better. I have always regretted getting rid of my previous one. An old Brother combi microwave. It was built like a tank and was still working fine, but I stupidly thought I would get something more up to date.

Im just going to get £55 cheapo one. 700 watts is 700 watts, and if that one blows up in 5 years I won't be so upset.

I dont mind paying a premium for quality if I'm genuinely getting quality in return, but these days we're paying a premium for the likes of DeLonghi, VW, Sony, and the like and receiving the same crap product as the meat and potatoes brands.

I'll find out.
I have an old crank with a broken con rod that just needs separating so I can reuse the flywheels.
If it ends up as scrap, I'm not bothered.

I prefer the manual type. We had a hydraulic press at work, it was mechanical with a back and forth handle to pump up the pressure. The one I used most was the old cast iron swing type with a screw thread and two large metal balls on the top of the swing arm. You got really good feedback as to if something was going to go or not.
