Good morning. Surprisingly overcast, I expected blazing sunshine. I'm not complaining as I've allotment stuff to do. My allotment has been a bit of a disaster the last twelve months but I'm back on top of it now. The next major task is a 2 yard skip to cart away an assortment of junk from the garage and allotment. The soil structure needs improving so I'm ordering 1000 litres of composted farm yard manure. It's amazing what you can buy on the web! Once that's done I'll get one of those enormous walk-in netting enclosures to cover all the growing beds. I've had a big cabbage white problem this year and deer the visit the gardens almost daily. It's only a matter of time till they find the allotment.

After a rubbish sleep motivation is hard to come by today. Next up is stretches, weights and then coffee while I finish off a Power Point presentation for my u3a. Then up to the allotment.

Well - I'm up early - for me anyway

going to St Helens to help some "old people" with digital stuff

worried about what to wear
I have been wearing short and t-shirts for weeks
but some people are sort of more formal
but I don;t want to look like a teacher or government official
so decided on jeans and casual shirt

maybe I worry too much

but old people can be weird
(looks at thread for confirmation!)

I hope I don't turn weird when I get old .
Yesterday my SiL said..."when younger, you didn't expect to get to 80".
I sternly reminded him.......I am not 79 yet !!!! Cheeky young whippersnapper .

Back from my walk. I increased the distance yet again .
I estimate I am now doing twice the distance I could do just 2 weeks ago.
My balance is dreadful and perhaps the main reason I need the strollator. You don't notice how uneven the pavement are in places..... even the ones they have (properly) lowered for vehicles. I can't handle the slopes so have to walk on the road. Not moaning, it's just an observation.

keep it up and things will get better still

I had a problem with my knee and foot a fe w years ago and uneven pavements and other things were a big problem

it really makes you realise how much your body compensates for extenal problems and you just don't realise

I suppose it is the same riding a bike and noticing the road surface much more than driving a car!

Bonjour tout le monde. Warm already and expected to go up to 25 degrees this afternoon.
I have just registered for the Bike Chester sportive next Sunday, starting from the rugby club.
I will have to get up early to be there for 8 am as it is about 45 minutes drive away.
I have checked the weather forecast and it should be sunny then.
Nothing planned for the rest of the day.

I believe that unless they are part of a registered hire scheme, they are illegal.
The legal ones are allowed on the road.

Wandered round to the Co-op for a couple of things and noticed a couple outside who were on e-bikes and a map on the front, so nosy me asks where they had come from/going. Turns out they were Americans on holiday. They had just ridden over from Perth and stopped for a break and were about to head back. Big sturdy e-bikes which must have had massive batteries judging by the size of them. Presumably hired them from where they were based.

so won't be going very far today, although I have walked up to the post office already.

I have just had a cup of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. Yummy.
It's very hot outside at the moment 31⁰ and not a cloud in the sky.
I went out for a short ride earlier, and did a bit of bike fettling as well.
