Oh - just remembered

On my ride this morning I was pootling around a load of dirt tracks
Hence quite dusty

One bit was a long stretch on a slight downhill - with no-one around

so I let the speed build up and pulled on the back brake hard
and the rear wheel locked and skidded - just for a bit as I was expecting it and released the power

but this is great - for ages I have had problem with that brake not slowing me down as much as it used to

The LBS has looked at it and cleaned the disc and all that
but a few days ago I took it back and said to change the pads on the assumption that I had managed to get some carp on them

and that seems to have made the difference

I know the manager is trying to be helpful and not just changing pads that have a lot of wear on them

but honestly - a few quid for the pads was worth it whether they were the problem or not!

A very convincing build up... but... we all know, you just wanted to do a skid 😂

I don't pay their pervert tax anyway. Im so used to not watching the BBC (or live tv) that even if they abolished the licence I wouldn't go back.

A good sleep for me as my bedroom is always cool (cold in winter).
Not sure about my walk as, being Friday, I have to get the bedding washed and dried the the cleaner arrives at 10.00.

Gonna be another scorcher here.
Our chirpy team of three have been working relentlessly to clear the borders & deploy our defence against a messy neighbour: fencing 🤺
A job we have prevaricated about for years 🫣 Toyed with doing them ourselves, a bit at a time, but realised 20 panels was beyond us…especially given we have gone with concrete posts and gravel boards: I can barely lift one end of them 😳
The posts will all be finished today. They will earn their ice creams - due to reach about 30 degrees by lunchtime 🥵

Is it true or is it fake news?
I have just read that the government has finally agreed that ALL pensioners will now get free TV licence.
I will believe it when they stop taking money out of my account every 3 months.

There are two online petitions kicking around, the ones which try to get 100k signatures to force a parliamentary debate.

The first is to scrap the licence fee and put the BBC behind a pay wall.

The second to give everyone in receipt of state pension a free TV licence.

I'm happy to pay the licence fee but equally I don't have a problem with those who genuinely don't need one.
