Just phone up the holiday company to check a few detail before we go away

one of the things was the details of travel
we are being picked up from a nearby bus stop about 1.5 miles away
it is too far to walk at 3 in the morning with cases and stuff
and, it turns out, it is a taxi as it is just is from here - and it takes us to Runcorn

We asked it we could have the name of the company as we could ring them and "do a deal" form them to pick us up from home for bit extra direct from us
But they won;t tell us

they do offer a guaranteed "pick up from home" service
which costs £90!!!

so - basically - they will arrange 2 1.5 miles taxi ride for £90

What a terrible rip off.

An idea.
Can you tell them (ever so politely) to stick thier taxi up a*se** and get your own taxi ?
** you could even make it rhyme........

Our bags are packed
A lift is lacked
But you can stick your taxi
So far up your jacksie
Cos all is fine
Where the sun don't shine

No need to thank me.

Another piece of advice, from an earlier post.
Next time I charge for such worldly advice!

Were the pickup arrangements (ie pick up at bus stop, not from home) in the terms and conditions for booking the holiday?

Oh yes 0 it was clear that we had to make our own way
it just would have been nice to know the company and be able to ring them and make some extra private arrangement on top of it

we shall see - it will probably work on the way back when we can talk to the driver in the car - taxi driver are not normally averse to an extra fair for a shorter trip!!

Yes, I understand that. Presumably, the travel company make pick up decisions on the numbers to be picked up, and, use the most economical vehicle (bus or taxi) for them.

An UBER (other taxis are available) from home to the bus stop would appear to be the obvious choice, almost certainly less than £90 I would have thought

We use a local taxi company - they actually have their office where we are being picked up!!

not that many Ubers round here
