Good morning. Dark but a decent forecast, sadly I can't get my bike out as I've other stuff to do. Yesterday just disappeared and I'm determined today will not. We had planned a ride in the
Ribble Valley, great route and excellent coffee stop identified. Got up at 5.00am to pouring rain. Plans abandoned. I tried to stretch and do weights but couldn't motivate myself. No matter, get on with the day but i didn't really. Then I booked a spin class for 5.30pm, I set off with plenty of time only to find the two main routes to town completely rammed, not busy but rammed full. Even turning round and using cyling cut throughs etc. couldn't save it. I did get the Kinesis prepped for winter, full guards on, gravel tyres off, winter tyres on!
The gods were against me, hopefully they will be with me today. A touch of u3a admin to catch up, ironing and then stretches and weights followed by a two or three hours housework. Cards group this afternoon and a whizz down to the LBS to chat about my new bike.
The plan behind this busy, busy day is to free up time for important stuff. You might recall I was hit by a tractor 15 months ago. I've received a small amount of PI compensation. It's money I didn't have and will buy a bike, with a little left over. I've decided on a Cervelo or Pinarello. I've had a proper bike fit, identified the range and now need to drill down to models. Plus we have a tech problem in our house. Mrs P's laptop should have been replaced decades ago but my every effort fell on deaf and disinterested ears. Now her tablet is almost dead. #2son has damaged the charging port on his tablet. I'm hoping to find some deals somewhere or other.
@mikelow - you have a codling moth problem. There are two options, you can use both, it isn't an and/or situation. If you get very heavy crops, more than you can use, thin out the fruit when it is immature. As you said nematodes will help. You can apply in April/May and/or September/October. You need temperatures around 10-12⁰C and damp soils for this to be effective. Depending on where you live I'd guess you have two or three weeks left for an autumn application.
Ami is due tomorrow at 2.00pm. We hope to ride and get home before she arrives. My coffee is finished, it's time to get a wiggle on.
