Maroon and VERY well used 😊

And, yes, it would have been 1963, maybe early 1964. I am of 1947 vintage

Yes, Feb '47 for me.
Memories ehh.
Think my bike cost me £15. It was a wreck and unfortunately I'm clueless when it comes to anything mechanical. I got no help from my Dad. In short me and an old bike had no chance and the whole episode died.
Strange but I still recall the reg as starting OUN.

Morning folks :okay: Went for a shortish spin yesterday which involved 6 miles of the A9....ive mentioned before that its dangerous and confirmed on this ride when an a car overtaking a line of traffic headed straight towards me on my side of the road  i had to take evasive action and hug the kerb to avoid being splattered on the bonnet....

Today i shall be putting up a low fence around my front garden to stop off lead dogs doing what they do... [i dont blame the dogs] :okay:

G'day to all.
A decent sleep has been slept and I am slurping my coffee.
I watched the film Good the Bad and the Ugly last night. Not seen it for many years.
I found the Civil War scenes very moving and Mr Google came in handy.
You have to put this into context with the times.
. It lasted 4 years(ish)
. Approx 750,000 people died.
. Most died from disease.
Soldiers were paid about 10-15$ .
etc etc.

Right. My cleaner will be here soon. Time for me to strip the bedding and get the washing machine earning it's living.

Morning
Due to no public demand at all I'm back.
Well almost, sitting in Palma airport waiting to fly home after a brilliant holiday. Cycled 6 days out of 7 although wasn't really a cycling holiday 😄.
Wearing just bib shorts and summer jersey was lovely as was t-shirt and shorts all day and evening.
Back to reality soon ....

Mine "went", but, not very well. I had bought it by saving money from my paper-round, I think is was similarly priced to yours.

I rode to school on it every day. The headmaster tried to forbid me from taking it to school, even although I parked it at an aunt's house near the school. Much to my surprise, although my parents were very "anti" me having a motorbike, my Dad took my side, and, told the Headmaster where to get off, on the basis that I had worked for and saved for it, so, he should be supporting my industry, not decrying it.

My longest "outing" was to Scarborough for the day (about 80-90 miles) with a few "mates" who had equally clapped out BSA Bantams or Tiger Cubs.

As you say, happy days 😂

Good morning. A light grey sun and warm for the time of year. This will do for our Nice friends who like to escape the heat. They have 25⁰+ at this time of year.

They were allowed in.........just. I kid you not. Going through passport control in Nice they were asked for their visas. What? A visa to visit the UK? Yes, you need one. I haven't understood the detail yet as I was doing 70+ at 2.00am on the M57 at the time. I need to find out more.

The gist of the story is a visa is required. They were allowed threw passport control on the understanding they might not be allowed to enter the UK. Conversation followed with easyjet staff who explained what to do. They phoned their son - always find a young person for this stuff - who made the application online while they were in the air. Landed in Liverpool, checked, visas available and granted entry with a passport stamp.

They couldn't understand why UK passport holders had to be checked as well. That's what a lifetime of open borders gives you.

Brexit........the gift that keeps on giving.

I think we will go to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park today, near Wakefield. It's a great place, we will be outside which will help Mrs P with her flu symptoms. And we can get lunch. Lunch is very important to our French friends, they will begin to worry about it around 11.00/11.30 - there must be a plan!!!

@PaulSB, check the M62 before you travel. There's a good chance they'll still be cleaning up after recent incidents between J24 and J27.

If you're planning on using it, that is.

For a few years i drove past that sculpture park, maybe 3 times a week. Never went in as it was 5ish and I was on my way home to Warrington.

My Facebook memories from 10 years ago today had this photo I took on the riverside trail. I just noticed there's a cyclist coming through the mist.
