Fully battened I see. What material are the sails made of these days?

Various forms of Mylar . The class has just changed to a new sail design that looks like this. Pin head sails are so last century lol 😂😀

good morning from an overcast Dorset. Mrs Tkk is heading up to London to collect granddaughter #2 for half term. Probably walk into Poole around the Holes bay, it's around 5k but ideal before sitting on a train for a couple of hours. I will be getting various breakfast bits and bobs for granddaughters stay ( brioche soaked in milk is a breakfast request)

We went to see Alexander McCall Smith yesterday afternoon at the Allendale centre in Wimborne. It was an informal interview style talk about himself and his books. I have read a fair few of his novels, the Scotland Street ones being set in Edinburgh, of which I am reading the latest. I have just reached a part where one of the characters has " gone back to Crieff " which I believe is Mo's neck of the woods.
It was an entertaining talk, and well attended, with a short audience Q&A session afterwards, followed by a book signing. It did feel a bit scripted though, as the interviewer ( the chap who owns the local book shop and is usually very polished) seemed to be searching through his notes and not just glancing at them as an aide memoir.
We skipped the book signing and settled on an afternoon G&T instead 😁
