Mr WD and I hav both got letters saying we will be getting £100 winter fuel allowance each. Better than nothing. All contributions are gratefully received

Mine arrived this morning, still waiting for Mrs B's. When it arrives, I may allow her an extra notch on the heating control 😂

Saw Mrs Tkk and granddaughter off on the train to London. Got home and stripped the beds, all in the WM and then on the clothes horse in the back bedroom with the dehumidifier on full blast.
Finally relaxed after a week of two grandchildren to cope with ( though its great fun but quite tiring)
Message pops up " Dave is 82 today, fancy a pint with him? " . So, up the road in torrential rain to meet up. Two pints later with the usual P*ss taking and all is well with the world.

Two WFA letters today. £100 each for me and Mrs P. Thank you.

Paul, what would you like to do today? Go cycling or...........

........build your granddaughter's new birthday bed. She's five tomorrow.

I got home and Mrs P asked "Are you done?" I replied in the affirmative and "mentioned" I would not be making tea.

No one told me about the bed. Tomorrow I go back for the mirror, shelves and curtains!

Just to say - she will grow out of that ina few years when she will be too tall to sit up in it

our grand daughter's was about a foot closer to the ceiling and I felt sorry for her until it got taken down about a year ago - when she was 12!!!!

A very good friend is 82 today, met him and his brother this evening for an impromptu drink. Pete, the brother recently took a tumble and face planted doing significant damage to his nose. Nothing that pulling the cork on a wine bottle to use, cut in half, as a straighter. This was, of course, held in place by a piece of slotted plumbing pipe anchored with sellotape to both cheeks...

So I gave up motorcycling this past summer. I figured I had survived 47 years of it with no major damage so why push my luck in the currently depreciating traffic situation… you know, too many idiots on cell phones.

So today I stripped all the armour out of my bike jackets so I could wear them comfortably in the normal world. Beats the hell out of tossing an 800 dollar jacket right.

So now what do I do with this pile of armour? Some of it, the orange stuff, is that high tech reactive stuff. Soft sponge until you hit it sharply, at which point it instantly goes rigid, returning to squidgy soft immediately after. Cool stuff. The science types call it a non-Newtonian polymer.

Might make some interesting toys for the bedroom?!

Pretty much our view as well. Still what do grandparents know about childraising? It's not like we've done it before. 🤔

That must have involved a lot of careful unpicking and restitching. Interesting to read about this sort of material as it's new to me. I think my approach would be to sell the jacket and use those funds to buy a civilian one.
