No point in owning a phone if you don't keep it with you and switched on.

I find this weith the grand kids parents

we send them a message asking what time we should be picking the kids up

then we end up guessing and just going round
to find they both had their phones on silent

but if they need to get hold of us they get grumpy if we don't get back to them with 17 milli-seconds!

Well we are back from the "Old Boys" do at my old school

My wife came along as, for the first time, partners were invited and there was a tour of the school

I did seem to be the one encouraging people to wander off down paths that were not on the tour
in one case to see if some "huts" were still there that were certainly build when asbestos was though to be a wonderful thing in house and schools etc!

they were still there and looked identicalt wo when we were there!

we then had dinner as part of the event and the food was great - not at all like the school dinners when we were there - which was mentioned a few times!

we went to the main school hall - it was noted that this went across some garden where some of teh teacher lived
for some reason, some of us clearly remembered the wife of one teacher who liked to sunbathe in their garden in hot weather
(I say some - one person didn't and it turns out he is gay - they rest of us.....)

anyway - inside there were a few pictures of some notable people who had been at the school
one was in our year and had been down to be with us but backed out at the last minutes
his picture was huge - there were more than a few comments about it - pity he wasn't there he hear them!!

Different reaction to the plaque in the chapel for another one of "us lot" who crashed flying a Harrier when the engine failed coming off a carrier

but it was a great evening - and my wife got to see the school went to

Interesting evening and more than a few drinks were had
If you've seen Ackley Bridge, you'll have seen my old school. Knocked down this year.

I was correcting the location director and director when they were shown round another building they wanted to use. Able to give a turn by turn, step by step guide to moving around the building. The fact that the door marked "office", on the first floor of the new building, was actually the girls toilets outside B14. There was a proper office twenty feet to the left, along the corridor and just before the doors. Not set foot in it since I left but still knew my way round better than they did.

Morning. Another overcast and drizzly start.

Good morning Mo (and all old farts on here).
Seems like it's to be sunny here today, very acceptable.
Enjoying my coffee and Tony Blackburn is about to start.
Talking of our old schools my Bro sent me photos of what's left of our junior school. Just the teachers house (which i can't recall), my class room and the sign. I will try and attach them below.

It's amazing. Exactly the same in our house. We childmind every week. Most weeks the routines are precisely the same but ocassionally there are Q&As. Do we get answers???? No! It drives me round the bend.

A little planning keeps Nana and Granddad happy.

Good morning all.
A bit of a grey start to the day here.
We are off tour friends in Hitchin later to discuss next January's or February's holiday destination. Possibly Tenerife or Gran Canaria for a couple of weeks.
There ware 3 frogs in the kitchen this morning, probably bought in by Harry overnight 🐸

Good morning. It looks like another lovely day might dawn, a bit grey and cloudy at present.

Last Wednesday was the 150th anniversary of the founding of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. My boys! The club has organised various pre and post match activities at today's home game to celebrate this. It will be interesting to see how many fans take part. I confess I won't stay behind after today's match. This afternoon promises to be lovely and I want to get on the allotment. Next tasks are to iron, stretch and exercise, make a moussaka for tea. Possible some hoovering and dusting though that's more likely for tomorrow.

I'll probably go to see the Springsteen film "Deliver Me from Nowhere" early this evening and need to leave Mrs P's tea prepared. It looks as though I'll be going on my own. Mrs P thinks she will be too uncomfortable in the cinema and the friends we do all things Springsteen related with haven't responded to three messages....................see above re sons and grandchildren!!! A tad disappointed by this as I hoped we might have made a bit of a thing of this with a drink and eat out. C'est la vie.
