Just seen an article on the news showing The Pope's visit to a Mosque


the shots of him walking in with some high ranking Islamic people made me notice tha the Pope and the Islamic "priests" (not sure of the correct word) were dressed almost exactly the same

which would probably be called heretical in some circles

Pope and a Rabi..... there's a joke in there if I can remember it

Bit of careful reassembly and we're almost done.
I had to make up a new stud out of a piece of mild steel rod for the rocker box, as one had stripped its thread. That took me the best part of an hour.
Just got the rocker box, exhaust and carb to put back on.
Think I'll have a break now and finish it off tomorrow.

Starting to feel a bit more chipper now. I've just finished another coffee and some toast while skimming through Facebook.

This isn't to start a political discussion but I find it quite disturbing how much right wing stuff and obvious click bait headlines is appearing in my feed. The more I block, the more that seems to appear.

Its how the algorithm works unfortunately, it just wants more interactions and more clicks and throwing stuff at us that we don’t like works even better than giving us things we actually like . It’s not interested in whether the interactions are good/ pleasant, it just know the more wound up you get the more likely you are to comment.
I suppose it’s a little bit like the old saying about customer service , if you have good experience you tell a few people. If you have a bad experience you tell lots . 😀

Fb can still be fun, but you always have to remember the algorithm is trying to play you and there are millions of bots on it too.

Afternoon all . We are having a quiet day here in Coventry .
A little bit of farm shop shopping has been done , coffee and tea cakes have been consumed and we have croissants for a mid afternoon snack.
Plus the rain has stopped and the sun has come . So all is well for today at least 😀

Good afternoon from a soggy Barnet. The rain has been hammering down for several hours and it hasn't really got light yoday.
A question. ---- do ad blockers work on smart phones? I have got fed up with the amount of adverts I am getting on almost any website I go on. No, not mucky ones for those of you who might think so.
I have looked at several apps that claim to work, but as yet have not downloaded one.

Thank you, that's interesting. Generally I only use Facebook to follow what my friends and family are up to, they're scattered all over the world. It works well for this. I like to keep an eye on American news and Trump as well.

Recently though I keep getting drawn in to discussion I should avoid. There's a company called Reach plc that owns 150 newspapers and around 100 digital outlets - usually branded "County name" Live on FB.

This organisation specialises in highly misleading clickbait headlines designed to pull people in to express their outrage. It's quite deliberate, every one of their FB outlets runs the same headline. Over the last few weeks this has concentrated on pensioners paying tax, the state pension being taxed etc. It's all basically untrue leading to much "outraged of Tunbridge Wells." I find myself correcting people whose lack of understanding is gobsmacking. To try and stop I started blocking these feeds only to get more and more. 😂
