I had a letter yesterday offering me an appointment for another Covid jab. I politely refused.

A nurse from the surgery just turned up at my door a couple of weeks ago. She just expected me to accept it.
Like you I politely refused it.

Just been shoping at Tesco, the old scan as you shop routine.

At the checkout I was flagged for a full trolley check. I wasn't best pleased, but fine, it happens.

The young lass comes across, most apologetic and asks if id been scanned before and had found an item that hadn't been scanned.

"Nope."

So she started unloading and scanning. It was clear she would have liked me to repack the bags but I didn't oblige - if Tesco want to empty my bags they can blummen well re pack them.

So im idly stood there staring idly into the middle distance when I spy a woman who looked familiar. Sure enough, a well-known shoplifter from my old coppering days, a heroin user that stole for subsistence and to fund her habit. Older and thinner, but definitely her. She briskly walked past staring dead ahead, making a point of not making any eye contact with staff, bulky coat bulging with booty. Out the store she went.

I said nothing. If they want to waste time trolley checking a retired copper instead of paying close attention to an extremely prolific and very well known shoplifter then thats Tesco's problem.

Thank you, that's interesting. Generally I only use Facebook to follow what my friends and family are up to, they're scattered all over the world. It works well for this. I like to keep an eye on American news and Trump as well.

Recently though I keep getting drawn in to discussion I should avoid. There's a company called Reach plc that owns 150 newspapers and around 100 digital outlets - usually branded "County name" Live on FB.

This organisation specialises in highly misleading clickbait headlines designed to pull people in to express their outrage. It's quite deliberate, every one of their FB outlets runs the same headline. Over the last few weeks this has concentrated on pensioners paying tax, the state pension being taxed etc. It's all basically untrue leading to much "outraged of Tunbridge Wells." I find myself correcting people whose lack of understanding is gobsmacking. To try and stop I started blocking these feeds only to get more and more. 😂

Totally agree, those sites take ‘ clickbate’ to a whole new level. ☹️

Good afternoon from a soggy Barnet. The rain has been hammering down for several hours and it hasn't really got light yoday.
A question. ---- do ad blockers work on smart phones? I have got fed up with the amount of adverts I am getting on almost any website I go on. No, not mucky ones for those of you who might think so.
I have looked at several apps that claim to work, but as yet have not downloaded one.

I can't remember the last time I saw an ad on my phone. I use Start Page as my search engine and have Adguard and 1Blocker installed
