Well that's a pain!!

I have run out of High STrength Vitamin D tablets
The doctor says I need to take them - but I am not convinced as the test it was based on was when I had untreated Coeliac where absorbtion was dodgy for a lot fo thing
and also in winter when I had been unwell so I had hardly been out of the house for months

Nowadays I go out riding and walking a few times a week so things have changed

I had a blood test for it via the hospital over a month ago but the hospital have not told me the results - as things go I will get them at an appointment with a dietician in APRIL!

Anyway - I thought I had better get some from Tesco when I went

Then only had the Vegan version - which was more expensive and very annoying!

I’ve been reading lots and also watching videos on YouTube about vitamin d. Some amazing testimonials from people suffering from MS who went on a high dose protocol and got rid of most of their symptoms. It also seems to help insomnia too so I’ve recently increased the amount I’m taking.

Personally, I don't see the point in riding in the rain. Your vision is limited, your brakes are a lot less efficient and your tyres don't grip so well. Also the facts that motorists may fail to see you if you have no lights on . When you are an older cyclist, taking unnecessary risks is rather foolish as the consequences may be very serious.
I have nothing to prove when I am riding. I just enjoy the freedom , the fresh air , keeping some sort of fitness and wanting to get back home in one piece and content.
I quite agree which is why I always ride with lights, don't set out in rain, high wind or if there's a danger of ice and use high quality tyres. When I say we, my buddies and I, don't mind riding in rain, we don't, but equally we don't stay home just because the forecast suggests rain.

Like me you live north of Birmingham, the research shows anyone who lives north of a line drawn roughly through the city should take vitamin D. In winter there's insufficient sun for the body to manufacture vitamin D and our diet does not provide sufficient. There's also an argument that even during summer we spend little time outside and don't expose enough skin for manufacture to be effective.

We've taken D for 30+ years. Mrs P worked extensively amongst the Blackburn Muslim community as a health professional. Vitamin D is especially important during pregnancy. Muslim women in traditional dress cannot manufacture vitamin D at all.......which is why Mrs P is very well rehearsed in the subject.

I'm on 25ug

Thanks - useful !!

I'm on 25 as well

I did see some that fizz in a glass of water - don;t really see the point but especially when I realised ti said 75 ug!!

which seems to be way more than the high dose products!

anyway - having the blood test results would tell me whether I need more or less!

I take at least 100ug/4000iu. Even that isn’t considered very high.
