Lucky I'm well prepared for floods living on a boat.

OK Noah ^_^

Its Wirral, not the Wirral! Youre lucky the locals havent burned you as a witch.

It is The Wirral
and if you live there you live ON the Wirral - not in Wirral

This is because it is a peninsular - like an island but with one connection
so you live on it

Just because Maggie decided to rearrange the counties and suchlike does not change geography

People live On the Isle of Anglesey
and I presume people live ON the Isle of White

As I grew up there, I consider that I know this

and yes - it is a Hill I Will Die On!!!

not quite as willing as the Cheese Is Disgusting hill but getting there!!!!

Bonjour tout le monde.
I had my cataract operation yesterday
All went well and the staff there was brilliant. Top marks from start to finish.
The only drawback now is that I can't ride my bike, do exercises or lift anything for the next 4 weeks. I feel completely helpless.
My eye sight is not 100% yet but should be good by Saturday and will be able to drive then.
I am presently staying with stepson and his wife until the kitchen is fully fitted to avoid any dust. It is going well and hopefully, will be finished by next Tuesday.
Mrs G is still in Devon and our daughter is slowly improving too so hoping to bring her back the week end after next.
I send her pictures of progress report of the kitchen so she can inspect it. So far so good.

That's like Blackburn Rovers supporters. It's Rovers, not the Rovers, not Blackburn, not Blackburn Rovers but ROVERS! You can always spot an impostor!!

Just got back from one of those OAP days where you fit as many things as possible into 'one trip'.

Stop 1. GP pharmacy to pick up my 'drain on the NHS' prescriptions. Success!

Stop 2. VW main dealer visit to get quote to supply and fit new front top grill due to suicidle Pheasant impact. £300 to supply and fit about £10 worth of plastic. £100 of which is labour to: remove 5 torx screws, lift off bonnet release lever, pull grill off, release radar sensor cable and reverse using new grill. 20 mins tops. If it needs recalibrating it will be another £300 - I don't think it needs this, though.

Earliest date they can do is end March. Courtesy car now costs £25 for the day so it is no longer really a courtesy car! Success of sorts?

Stop 3. Nevisport Kendal. Closed all day every Thursday according to sign on the door. Failure. Loss to them c£220.

Stop 4. Next Kendal. Mrs SD wanted a 3 pack of padded socks in black and in white. White out of stock. 50:50. Loss to them £10

Stop 5. Boots Kendal. We wanted 2 new toothbrushes. Out of stock. Failure. £8 Loss to them.

Stop 6. McD Kendal. For a pee. Success!

Stop 7. Sports Direct. For 2 pairs Nike jogging bottoms. Out of stock. Failure. Loss to them £110.

Stop 8. Sainsbury petrol station. Success.

And they say support your high street!

A day of purgatory!

Enjoy the balance of your day, all.

There was an area near us (Moreton Shore for those that know The Wirral)
there is a big concrete embankment and a wide grassed area behind it
then a road - which is raised a bit - and then what was some scrub land** behind that - which was scrud land because when it rained the wate rhad nowhere to go as it was below sea level for half the day

SO they build a housing estate on it
My Dad knew a bloke who bought one of them - we mentioned all this and he made sure his house was on a slightly higher bit
To my knowledge it has never flooded
but I reckon it is only a matter of time
OK - that was probably up to 40 years ago - but I tend to want my house to last a fair bit longer than that!!!

**There are plans afoot to build on another
chunk of muddy land adjacent to that. There are lots of objection but enough brown envelopes will get rid of them IME.
