Next door neighbour had his company car changed. He had a KIA and his new one was an Electric KIA. He had to wait a bit for a charger to be installed and he was a bit moany. Now he's saying how good it is. I expect he will be asking about our Solar installation next.

Had the misfortune of catching a bit of morning TV today as I visited an old resident from my job. They featured a distraught woman who was appalled on buying a cheap 'boot warmer' off the Internet, effectively two small hairdryers turned on in a tiny space and it burned some of her house down. Why would this ever be a good idea! Common sense was absent I fear.

By coincidence I have just got the dreaded letter from the opthalmology Dept at the hospital. It confirms that things have got worse and im referred to the specialist. However he cant/won't see me for 3 months......I am taking that as a sort of positive in that they haven't called me in as an urgent case.
Hey ho etc.

I would expect better from Halford - after all some of us go there!!!

I'll continue to buy from Halfords but I will never again trust my local store or the associated local workshops to fit or repair anything.

I find fitting car headlight bulbs very fiddly. Over the past six months my local Halfords, on two separate ocassions, has fitted a new bulb for me. This winter my headlights became progressively so poor it was dangerous to drive. I called into my local garage. One of the co-owners took a look. Neither bulb had been fitted correctly. I explained, the comment was "Never ask Halfords to fit anything." Advice I should have heeded fully

Two weeks ago I needed a new battery. Halfords fitted this. Yesterday parked by a remote Cumbrian beach, three miles from anywhere and the car won't unlock and then start. I have a battery pack for jump starts. When I went to take off the positive terminal cover the whole thing lifted away in my hand. The lead had not been tightened on to the terminal. I replaced it, thumped my fist on the cover. Bingo, started first time.

Who could possibly f*** up fitting a car battery?

When we got home I went down to Halfords, spoke to the manager and explained I wasn't complaining but felt he needed to know his instore fitters had made basic errors on three ocassions in six months.

The manager while appreciative didn't think to ask if the battery terminal needed checking again.

Anyway. Hello!!! I've been MIA for a few days, we've had a break with friends in the Lakes, at Ravenglass. Glorious weather on Wednesday, poured with rain Thursday and blowing a gale yesterday. None of this dampened our spirits, we had a great time, Mrs P in particular.

I did have a mini fallout with one of our friends. Only us and this couple left at the house, there had been 14 people staying at one point, a big place. We know this couple well, do a lot together. The lady is described by most as "OK, in small doses," mainly because she doesn't know when her acerbic or sarcastic remarks cease to be a "joke" and/or acceptable just because "you know what I'm like." I reached a point when I told her bluntly about something "Don't be so stupid" and avoided conversation from there on. She wasn't happy.

We go away 2 - 3 times a year. Next time there's an invite to go away I'm likely to be alone. I've already decided I won't go.

Onwards! Today? I'm not sure yet. I have a PT appointment at 11.00 and we're going to see Project Hail Mary at the cinema followed by a Turkish restaurant tonight.

Just heard the chimes of an Ice Cream van coming along the road. Rather fittingly it was playing " Oh we do like to be beside the seaside " 😁

My countdown timer tune on the phone 🤣💪

A foot of snow due here today…..might not be doing too much 🫣
Had a fabulous 8 hours out yesterday though, 36km and mostly great sunshine and good light 🙏
We do muse on how much longer we can keep this kind of trip up though ⛷️
Gotta love an enforced rest day 🍻

Barnet,
Good morning all.
There is quite a heavy frost outside to start the day off, and the temperature is 0⁰c.
I'm currently listening to Tony Blackburn on the radio and drinking my first mug of tea :cuppa:
I'll go to the market later on for some fruit and veg and maybe a quick pitstop at the Mitre on the way home.
