When my dentist asked me that few years back i asked what that had to do with my teeth? She admitted it had nothing to do with them. So I said in that case I decline to answer that. She put that in my notes and I've not been asked since.

They ask as alcohol is a risk for oral cancer.

I had a similar conversation and mine told me there’s a link to oral cancer 🤷‍♂️

Good morning folks, another sunny start to the day ☀️. Off to Dorchester on the train for our delayed " Second Tuesday " meet up. Lunch is at the Blue Raddle and there'll be another couple of pub stops en route. Daughter arrives about 9:00pm from the chilly north ( Edinburgh) , be good to catch up.

Dentist prices are a joke & we are still NHS, too.

Solicitors are worse - ours charges £350 per hour. Back in the late 90's/early 2000's I earned £66 per hour, I thought that was a lot. But even with inflation factored in it would still be way short of £350 per hour.

Pah! I'll match your £350 and raise you £125. I've never paid that. At the time we used her our solicitor was only £450/hour!!! I'll explain later but to this day I still consider it supreme value for money to resolve a family estate issue. If though you're talking conveyancing or the like, that's ridiculous.

Not been to a dentist since I was 14. Being operated upon, but not being knocked out properly and feeling everything but being unable to move or speak kind of puts you off from going back for a second helping. I brush 3 times a day very thoroughly, avoid sugary drinks and sweets, to everything I can to reduce the chance of ever letting one of those butchers near me again.

Yay! Fish Friday again!
Got to cut the rear lawns before I go out, as I couldn't be arsed to do them yesterday.
I need a haircut as well, so I'll do that first thing.
Walking down to the harbour at lunchtime; might have an ice cream on the way back.

I received my council tax for 2026/2027 ,this morning. What a rip off!! It is now £2481 . Our council tax in Conwy area has gone up 30% in the last 4 years. My pension has not.
What the heck do they do with our money? Roads are full of potholes and we have to pay extra to get rid of certain things at the rubbish tip.
This is insane.

Your bill should itemise each item, take a look at it. Mine came yesterday and is £2418. Of this my local council, Chorley BC who deliver all the important day to day services to my house, receive £193 but I'm paying to the police, crime and fire services, £388. Council tax is a very complex thing and the reasons for these increases are not always apparent. Try Googling something on the lines of "reduction in central government funding to local government since 2000."
