Morning all :hello:

Tip run to dump a load of cardboard, then doggie walking.
Only 50 quid on PBs this month.

Just come back from our tip. Two heavy garden bags and now by back is hurting. Boy the tip was busy at 9.15, glad to get out of it. Too small for the population.

Just looked and we are not due rain today

but the temperature looks like it is not shorts weather - probably

so might go out for a ride anyway - we shall see

tomorrow is a non starter and Monday we are taking the grand-daughter to a National Trust place where they have a Rembrany on display

not sure she it terribly excited about the painting - she is 13 - but I can take her off when she gets bored and leave her gran to look

On - and - (looking at the thread title) we had a solicitor around yesterday about wills and stuff
very thought-provoking

turns out that my wife has clear ideas about what to do after she snuffs it
I am not bothered - but I am starting to wonder

Best to get these things sorted - can save a whole lot of hassle for those left behind. Especially for people who have had multiple marriages and children by different partners, etc.

Indeed. My neighbour/friend was twice married. His 2nd wife was also twice married. Between them they have 3 grown children but none together.
His wife died shortly before Sue, so approx 3 years ago.
He is having a nightmare now trying to sort his will out with complications about legal access to the various bank accounts ie physically he has access but proving it and leaving it His one child and his wife's 2 children is not as straight forward as you might think.
Mine is more straight forward......one marriage, 2 children, everything split equally. And even then there are difficulties as we both left our half of the estate in trust to the 'children' but between them them have requested a change.....but I cant change 50% of it as Sue left it in trust, so i cant touch it.
So I agree, get a good will specialist and think long and hard about the whole thing.

Thanks. Was just about to post that.

Since I’m up early I think I will finally force myself out for a very short bimble while the roads are quiet. It’s a bit sad that it’s such an effort to make myself do something that I used to enjoy so much a few years ago.

We might have rain this afternoon. Looks like our good spell of weather is coming to an end.

Thank you Mo

Afternoon all . Glad to be back ( told you I wouldn’t make next week 😂 ) .
It was nice to have couple of days off to put things into perspective, if I hadn’t I would have definitely done a Drago . 😀
Anyway all behind me now and I have my happy face on ……. for now at least . 😂😂

Got my walk in. As normal I was wobbly to start with until I gradually gain my balance. I'm sure people must think i'm drunk as I do weave as I walk. Anyway I managed 2.4 miles and the weather held.
I called at my 'local' pub half way around. Its 250 years old and they had a viking reenactment.....some guy got killed by the sword while I was there......his own fault for being a nasty viking I say.

Raining here now.
It's the WSR Spring Steam Festival with lots of different engines running.
Sir Nigel Gresley has just steamed past the end of our front garden.

Yep, it's tricky. We're simple folk and don't have complicated affairs but we have three children who we wish to treat equally. One of our sons is Downs and will always be in care of some. We're conscious there is always the risk the state will not provide adequately for his needs.

It took nigh on 30 years to find a solicitor who understood the situation. All the others basically said "I can look this up for you!!!"

Long story short, the solicitor presented our situation to us, gave answers to every question we had and several we hadn't conceived. After about 20 minutes I recall thinking to myself "if this costs £5 - 6000, it will be worth every penny." At the end she said these are your options and this is the cost. The options were £1200, £1500 and £2000. She was brilliant.

On first death a family trust is triggered and 50% of the house goes into the trust. This protects the surviving spouse in the long-term. The rest of the estate goes to the survivor and on second death the estate goes into the family trust. Each son is an equal share beneficiary and my two competent sons are the trustees, meaning our third son is financially secure and his finances managed by his brothers. It's simple but took 30 years to find someone who understood us.

So got a nice new pair of Spoke smart black jeans (look unworn) for £14 (£100 new) at one of the Charity shops so well pleased with that; got wine plus cheese (reduced!) and biscuits for this evening from Waitrose.

Was very busy today as it was Eel day so lot's of festivities going on.

This afternoon was spent chilling again after a cheese salad sandwich with lettuce, mustard leaves and radish from the garden, then some planting of Cannas and other stuff.
