I have had 8 now. The first was just plain awful, the middle 6 were bearable and Tuesday's was virtually beyond unbearable. I had to apologise for swearing at a couple of points!
They went 'in' 3 times, apparently the Leukaemia trial that I am on needed more samples than usual. And I have very hard bones (good at my age) and they are evidently tough to bore through. In the USA they do these under GA which makes more sense to me.
I am now bloody terrified of the next one in 3 months time.
I attend a number of on line support meetings for my particular condition. There's usually a presentation/ discussion with a Specialist / Nurse Practitioner / Haemo etc followed by a QA session and discussion. I gather that there have been advances in blood analysis and cytogenetics that have had quite significant effects on the need for further bone marrow biopsies as the " markers " can now be detected in the blood. No doubt your Consultant is on the ball, but it might be worth querying?
