I give the grandparents 10/10 for this. Perhaps they're younger than me? The most intense we usually have is Monday #1 and #2, then #1 sleepover, and #3 arrives Tuesday morning. This leaves me wiped out. We once had #2 for three nights, she was too young for this and desperately distressed. She basically screamed for the whole stay.

I think I could do a week on holiday with #1, she's 5½. A lot easier and has so many interests she's easily pleased.

Both mid 70's with a 5, 7 and 10 year old! I am in awe of them, I do think they find it very tiring as you would imagine but they plough through it.

Barnet,
I have taken on the task of phoning Eurostar to book our tickets for the Escape committee on tour this September.
Being an retired railwayman there is a number I can call and get concessionary fares, it is reciprocal for Eurostar staff on National rail.
The office doesn't open until 10am.
Then I have decided that the hair looks a bit wild, so i will go and get a haircut .
The rain is persisting down now. Millie was walked just in time to miss it. :rain:

I missed out by two weeks with my concessionary fares, when I went out to Aussie

Morning
Off to GP in a bit - discussion about several things which may or may not be related
so need to talk about it

after that I can see some ironing and shopping coming up

Met Office thinks it will rain all day so that's out

do need to start getting things sorted for holiday - at least check which things are non-viable!!

Good morning, I slept really well last night, probably due to cumulative fatigue from the three night granddaughter sleepover mentioned above. 2nd Friday group have been in touch, this Month we are heading back to Weymouth, One of the lads is having a cataract operation on Thursday but is planning to attend if things go well, another had surgery to put his shoulder bones back into alignment after the previous op failed so he's a no show. The weather on Friday looks to be ok 🤞
I am planning to brave the rain and wander down to Lidl for a collapsible laundry basket after one of the the handles failed on our current one.

Right - back from the Doc

Probably the best and most useful GP appointment I have ever had

she listened very well and reacted indicating she understood
not hurried at all in spite of taking ages as there was a lot of "stuff" to go through

several referrals sent to the hospital as a result and a wide range of blood tests ordered (booked for Friday)

and a lot of advise and information that helps a lot

but mainly - she listened - some of them seem to forget that that is one of the main parts of their job!

15 years ago we had a new roof fitted.

We found out a couple of years ago that the main tiles were v.good quality (Lagans) but the ridge tiles were some cheap make.

The ridges started to delaminate so we decided to have them replaced with quality ridge tiles and a dry ridge system instead of the old-fashioned mortared stuff.

They are cracking on really well up there but by christ it is a racket!

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Just had a cold caller from a roof coating company knock the door. Fortunately I saw him coming in the drive so didn't answer. They are a total pest. I've just sent away for a No Cold Caller sign for the door. Hopefully it might help deter folk like that.

Ive got a no cold caller sign on my door. Sadly they just weem to ignore it.

I have just had 2 roof hips changed from standard mortar type to dry ridge. Hopefully that eliminates any more problems.
