Just got up - 2 grandkids stayed last night
youngest was awake late as it was too hot so was up later than normal

After a few minutes remembered I had to check the score from last night

WHAT!!!!
we won!!

watched until half time but went to bed after than as I expected the youngest to be up early as usual

sort of expected them to lose - they are England after all

Morning.
Another late night watching the football but boy it was worth it. I'm way more of a rugby fan but I do watch England football.

Another scorching day, not sure on plans. I went for an easy 20mile ride yesterday with wife so I might get out today for a bit more.

Bright blue sky, v.windy & 22°C. Feels really pleasant.

Lawns need cutting, but the weekend is for total rest here, which is a deeper state of rest than is the normal retirement state of rest, ergo, lawns will not get done today. They will be cut during the 'working' week.

So, dossy day here.

Have fun, all!

What a cracking result last night 🙏
To make this the perfect tournament would be Jude knocking two past Argentina, then a hat trick in a winning final to take Golden Boot. Well, for the moment, I can dream 🤣

Time to load up the bike, double check the kit & head down to Wick St Lawrence ready for a little cycling adventure with a pal next week, where I will hop on my bike and ride more times and further than I have all year…shocking 🫣🤣
Do I even bother packing a fleece top?

Good morning. Nice and cool in the house with a gentle breeze blowing through the back door. Outside it looks like it will be a blisteringly hot day. I've spent the morning doing lots of small things that needed sorting. Returning a Wahoo gizmo I don't need, book GP appointment for annual Well Man assessment etc. The next task is to get my Kinesis out and prepped for a gravel ride on Wednesday. I haven't been on her in a while so need to make sure all is good.

Well, we watched the footie. Used to be after a late night I'd get up with a hangover, now I just think not enough sleep, why didn't I go to bed at 10.00? Ah well, the years are passing. My lad went into Manchester. He'll be in a bad way! We BBQd last night. A new routine has begun. Our neighbour was on his allotment BBQing and serving up. He saw me get out my BBQ and called over the fence "pass that over, you can have our burning charcoal." That worked very well. There were four adjacent allotments BBQing last night - we've agreed scheduled rota for future evenings and will pass the charcoal along the line

<pedant alert> Is it A MRI or AN MRI?</pedant alert>

🤷‍♂️

Oh, I love English language. In this case it is how it sounds when spoken, so it's AN. Often the easy way to work it out is to say the phrase to oneself and understand how it would sound to a listener.

You can apply this across many articles in our language. The sound is often the rule.

The M is pronounced "em" hence AN.
