The knowledge body has increased exponentially over that time.

Thats been an issue for me. Im doing environmental science and got a bit cocky in year one because a lot of it overlaps planetary studies so I thought I'd have a head start. Wrong! Our understanding of stuff like plate tectonics, global warming, etc, have moved on considerably over the recent decades and im havingnto essentially unlearn stuff and start again.

Good morning. These early mornings are wonderful. Sunshine and pleasantly cool. Very Mediterranean...............and now it's cranking up to be blisteringly hot. We have a small one with us today. It's Tuesday. It's #3 day.

@welshdragon - congratulations to your granddaughter and the proud grandmother. Whatever direction life takes her an education to this level will never be wasted.

I've poured water on my tomatoes, I have one butt of water left. I've been carrying 15 litre buckets up from the village well but that is now reduced to a trickle. In fairness I can only take about 30 litres in late evening, this allows the trough to refill overnight for the neighbours. The tomatoes had five litres each yesterday, that's 25 litres plus another 4 on the cucumber. Phew! That's about it. I need to address something elsewhere.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I still couldn't see myself sitting down to braised beef and veg in this heat, as I said throwing some meat onto the gas barbie is more than enough and it's only in the high teens here never mind over 30°C.

Whatever. Each to his or her own

Nothing on today

did get a weird emial from the NHS yesterday
it was going on about a case and a request being rejected
and the GP not doing something so it can;t be processed
and Patches - which no-one now uses

no idea what it is on about I think I will print it off and just take it to the GPs and ask them if they can work it out

which is in the general direction of the airport - so I might go for a ride up that way
Speke Hall cafe sounds like a possibility!

On teh topic of MSc's

it annoys me
becuase I was supposed to be doing one when I was made redundant about 2001

basically it was an IT MSc - I did a fair amount of work helping them with setting things up and stuff

and then they discovered that some of their grants were dependant on numbers and they had set the cource up with a minimal number for the first year to see how it went
but if only a couple dropped out the numbers would drop below the minimum for the grant so they would lose the funding

so the cancelled it 3 weeks before it was supposed to start

thing is - that course was basically the start of "cloud computing" - they had a rack of Raspberry Pis (small computers) that operated as one computer and you could take some out and add more as needed

And they wanted me on the course as I had 20 years of industrial experience and could help them get it ready for proper use

combining all that I would have been set for life!!!!

but they cancelled it and offered me a PhD - but it was unfunded and so unpaid and I couldn;t afford to do that

still - I ended up as a teacher - which was different

and eventually I met my wife

but you have to wonder about these things!
