Think I may have found a brown rat burrow at the end of the garden yesterday. Bait box ordered just in case.

Doorbell rang yesterday

it was the bloke next door saying that our right hand gutter is blocked
That wall of our house is the side of his property - so our gutter overhangs the passageway to their back
and they always go in and ou tthrough that door so when it was rainign they had to dodge a waterfall to get in!

turns out there is a large weed/plant growing out of it that I couldn't see unless I went down there

anyway - I have a new extension for the powerwasher that I used to clear the back gutter a few days ago
so I thought I would just about have time to clear that gutter before we needed to go out

Hmm - every joint fo the extension leaked
plus - last time the power hose broke
so I was usign a new one

and the rubber washer sealing it broke first time I used it

AND - the weed was rooted into the downpipe so wouldnot come out

should be better than it was - but it will have to wait a few days until the storm has gone

I want knemof those big chrome coffee machines that grinds the beans, make all the noises, and emit huge volumes of steam.

We’ve got a Delongi bean to cup machine, it’s brilliant
I've lusted over something like this but have settled on two cup Moka pot. My son bought me a Dualit machine which prepares the hot frothy milk. I've got a Krups grinder. This makes for a good combination.

Good morning. It was blue skies and sun an hour ago, now it's grey and wet but no wind. An awful sleep last night. I didn't go to bed until midnight, very late for me, and woke at 2.30............then my mind started racing in the way it did when I worked. Budgets. Cashflow. Sigh. Mrs P had planned a trip today to Port Sunlight with friends to visit the Lady Lever gallery and the place itself. Austen has blown that one out.

I had a great visit with my FA yesterday, we did 30 minutes on the finances and 90 minutes in the coffee shop next door chatting as friends do. Wonderful. The journey in/out of Manchester was good, trains worked well though coming home at 4.15 I literally could not get on the train. It was totally rammed. I had to wait 30 minutes for another and elbow my way on board. In 2011/12 following a seizure I wasn't allowed to drive for 12 months. I commuted to Cheshire by bike and train, usually via Manchester Piccadilly. It was hard work getting on a train in rush hour with a bike back then. Today it would be impossible, even with a folder.

So back to no sleep. My FA feels taking an annuity is a strong possibility for preserving pension value and creating a secure income. Fund values are good and annuity rates at +/- 8%. I don't know any other way to get a guaranteed return at that level. Of course nothing is simple. Annuities have changed significantly since I last looked 10 - 12 years ago. My household income will drop by around 55% in the near future. I can handle that but want to do more than cover costs. I want to live. I need a serious look at budget and cashflow before deciding on the annuity thing. Haven't done that in ten years or more.

More mundanely I have to do the housework before seeing my PT.

I have looked into getting a machine but decent machines are way too expensive for my 1 cup a day to justify.......same with the cleanup process for 1 Cup.

Good morning.
Blowing a gale and chucking it down so far so Molly will miss her walk this morning. I don't think she will mind .
Let's hope it improves by tonight.

Gaveroche.....after your cataract ops were your eyes affected by light ?
Mine were very sensitive for maybe 10 days and even now they react badly 1st thing ie when I wake up and put the bedside lamp on. I have to sit eyes closed for some 20 seconds before I gradually open them.
It doesn't bother me as I sort of expect a reaction and things are improving daily.
