After England put Wales to the sword, I don’t think for one second that they thought they would end up one above us in the final 6 Nations table.

They looked like being potential world beaters in that game even allowing for how bad Wales were and had been good in the autumn. They have a huge player pool too so no idea what has gone wrong

Italy have come a long way and it has been showing over the last few years. Congratulations on the win

How do you go from beating NZ 33-19 in November to losing to Italy in March?

For me, the bottom line is that Borthwick doesn’t have a clue what his best side is.
Plus it’s worse when the squad picks up a few injuries.
As for the players, confidence seems fleeting.

They did, everything they did had intensity and their kicking game was spot on. Wales were as bad as they have been in any game in the last decade or two but England did everything right in that game.

Maybe the latter was because of the former.

I cannot understand the feeling of almost shame from players and commentators about England losing to Italy. Italy have beaten every other top international team other than NZ so England had no divine right to win.

Still stuck in the 2000s mentality. Deserve to lose if you're not taking your opponents seriously.
