It was a frustrating game because we were very nearly competitive if we'd had more composure, but Australia are just so very good in all departments.

Looking forward to the Autumn Internationals. England have a tough 4 games, maybe 2-3 wins being the minimum expectation with a realistic prospect of 3-4. Seem to have picked the side based on the summer success which I guess makes sense. I wouldn’t have had F Smith and Spencer on the bench in a 6-2 split though, let’s hope none of the outside backs get crocked.

9 + 10 are fine
12 Understandable
15 understandable given SB didn't select and other fullbacks, but the supertanker does get exposed badly one on one and when kicks go to grass
13 Stupid selection. Lawrence is the form 13, plays there week to week. Freeman is the best of the wingers, has almost no experience at 13

Play Freeman on the wing, Lawrence at 13, and either Feyi-Waboso or Roebuck on the other wing

I do like Pepper and Underhill together, but what is an injured Tom Curry doing on the bench? Let him heal properly, rather than confine him to a life in a wheelchair in a couple of years.
I think CCS would offer more than Earl at 8, who has underperformed for a while now.

Yes I agree with this. Steward gets run around too easily for a long term FB solution. Lawrence has pent up energy after the injury that kept him out of the Lions. I think FS is the next 10 although hard to ignore Fords form. Hard to see him covering the back 3 though.

A good if scrappy game for England. Defence was good as were both forward packs England used. I admire Ford but he is a bit too structured, steward was poor in attack. Hope we see some changes in the backline that gets the most out of the wings and a more attacking fullback.
