surely with only 144,000 places in heaven, they should maybe not try to encourage others to join the flock... in fact the most sensible activity for a JW to embark on would be to somehow kill off their brethren until there's no more than 144,000 of them left, thus guaranteeing themselves a place in heaven.

I used to ask them how many JWs there are in the world at the moment. Then ask them when JWs were founded. Then ask them to guess how many JWs there had been in total since the movement was founded. I'd then point out that with only 144,000 of them getting to heaven, if I was looking for a religion I'd pick one with better odds.

Now that I'm older and wiser I just say 'no thanks' as mocking the deluded isn't clever.

Can't we send all the JWs to Dover to welcome the asylum seekers? Most of them will probably turn round and swim back to Calais.

Apparently when I was younger my dad used to invite them in and have them talk to us, selective memory I've blocked it out, but now we just have a sign on the door for cold callers, including Jehovahs Witnesses and charities

So have we but they just ignore it,or can't read.

I went out with a girl from a JW family when I was sixteen, she was definitely rebelling against it.

It all ended rather messily when her dad found out and she was hauled before the elders.

Apparently her brothers were looking for me as well, although I never ran into them unfortunately.
Unfortunately?? Youre not Russian Orthodox are you?Now they can look scary!

Come on, give them a break. In the scheme of things, they are an order of magnitude less bothersome than the hateful PPI claim ambulance chasers who phone me several times a day.

one of them phoned me last week stating that they could get me xxx amount of compensation for my recent accident, i asked if i could claim for amnesia , his response was like all his birthdays had come at once ... oh yes we can certainly claim for that, ,,,, good i said ....coz i dont remember having a fekin accident

Many years since I ve come across JWs.However, when they did come around they were often accompanied by their children.Whatever the reasons for such an approach,it always rather saddened me to think of the effect on those children of seeing their parents rejected or perhaps abused as they knocked on doors.Surely,no child should witness that, though I should imagine that it is something that many children experience, far more often than I m aware Im sure.It simply seemed wrong, and still does
