Fordson Dexta and MF35, the owners were out on a jolly to view the TOB as it headed away east of Tuxford along Polly Taylors road and the Scagby road junction.

Tuesday 22nd
Whilst out walking the dog on one of the regular routes (& also a sometimes ride-route home), a chain of 7 tractors came through
Led by a Fastrac
Going by one of the implements on a front PTO, I think they were off to cut all the corn that’s grown around here now

The above machine was working yesterday
I’d ridden along the river (Calder) bank, & through the woods, to see it lifting potatoes
Damned greasy in the woods, l was almost off a few times
It’s at that point where it’s not very muddy, just that slippery layer on top of a firm base

I remember as a youth , we had a very small machine that went on the back of tractor and lift a single row at a time, When I say lifted, it turned the soil over and hopefully deposited them on top. You then followed up on foot with a scuttle, filled it with spuds and emptied in into a sack and onto a trailer. Back breaking work! Sowing / planting them was much more fun!
