My late father in law gifted us their 01 V70 T5, with around 60k on the clock, and pretty mint to be fair, cream leather interior.
The only negative for me, as an enthusiastic driver, was that it was an automatic.
It was also somewhat thirsty, so right from the very start I had it converted to LPG, with a tank going where the spare wheel was, and the wheel then sitting in the boot in a bag. It worked really well to be fair, and there was no discernible drop in performance.
The only occasional difficulty (in this country unsurprisingly) was finding places to refill with LPG - and in recent years I notice it has gotten worse and worse as they are removed.
I seem to recall we used to use an app to find nearby LPG stations, but on occasion they would be literally out of gas.
The LPG made it affordable for us to run though, and the £1200 conversion paid for itself in a pretty short time.
To drive it was very comfy, had cruise control and the uprated (I believe) Bose sound system - had several trips down through Europe in it.
Only one major issue, was when one of the throttle bodies went, iirc it was around £3-400 to fix, but the symptoms were alarming, happened once to my partner, and once to me.
Mine was going up a fast uphill piece of dual carriageway (no hard shoulder), the power dropped, as I guess it went into limp mode, so I had to hit the hazard lights, and simply hope it would make it up to the top, and no one rear ended me. We just about made it, pulled in, switched off, and restarted, and it was fine to get home, but quite a memorable episode!
We must have covered around 80,000 miles in it, and aside from that one thing, it was just consumables that you would expect really.
Around 2019 a decision was made to get a bigger vehicle, as I wanted something more van shaped that I could get fully assembled bicycles in.
Ended up with a 2016 Ford Grand Tourneo Connect, and have to say it's been bloody brilliant, and touch wood, aside from one starter motor, just as reliable as the Volvo. A huge drop in power from 250 to 120bhp, but still surprisingly lively, and it's a manual which pleases me.
Someone on the Bikeradar forum put me onto them, as prior to that I was unaware of their existence.
I've removed the two rearmost pop up seats, for extra height, and with the 2nd row all or partially folded down, it will take a full size adult bike (Probably 5 with all the seats down) without anything needing to be removed or adjusted.
£35 a year vehicle duty which is nice, the Volvo was in the hundreds.
