When I repladed the xenon bulbs in my XC90 I recall the dealer wanted a fortune.

So I bought Osram items for a fifth the price, and very good they were too.

I just bought Osram-alikes for ours, coincidentally. Let's see if they're any good (but for £20 for 2, why not see!)

I haven't even dared to get a dealer quote,
Yes mine has Osram standard ones in them they are just under £40 each.
shopping around I can find

equivalent Osrams:
cool blue intense xenarc next gen for ~£120 a pair,
Cool blue boost Xenarc for £134 a pair , or (scrub that they aren't road legal)
Night breaker £156 a pair

Might go cool blue, its not like im doing loads of night driving

make sure you've bought the right ones DAMHIKT!

Dunno yet, but they were supplied via a large rainforest-based online site which really loves us, so I don't anticipate an issue even if The Man says I've bought the wrong 'uns.

(And certainly less bleedin' hassle than trying to procure a replacement steering rack for a 2005 Volvo S60, where the spec and supplier seemed to have changed on a daily basis...)

That should be a P2 on that year, so pretty robust.

BUT it needs proper maintenance and dealer prices aren't cheap, so look out for missing services or a history from Fred in a Shed upon the industrial estate who won't understand the vehicle or have access to software updates.

Check every single toy works correctly as non functioning stuff can be an indicator of wider canbus "CIM" issues which can be spendy.

Id steer clear of the 200k mile one unless there's evidence of gearbox oil changes in its history, although it otherwise looks the better car.

But the prices are nice. Get one that drives well and works properly and look after it as they deserve and theyre brilliant cars capable over obscenely high mileage.

What do you guys think of a 20yo Volvo xc70.

Is it likely to be a money pit?

Seen locally a 2002 with 115k £1k

https://ebay.us/m/60de5U

Or a 2007 with 200k... £1.5k

https://ebay.us/m/ErKjBF

Both sliver.

I'm sure there are plenty good ones out there but I'm reminded of a Polish colleague who had an 70 or.90, can't remember which. Visually very nice, it was maybe a mid 2000s model and around 10 to 15 years old but...he had to let it go, it was becoming increasingly expensive to keep on the road, various and expensive things failing. Not very specific im adraid but...

Well 233k on last weeks MoT with only a ball joint required to pass. This year the XC has taken us from Rochdale to Filey, Anglesey, St Agnes and South Wales camping along with all manner of bobbing about, commuting included. The best thousand pound I’ve ever spent on a car!
