The 'House in the Clouds' in Thorpeness on the edge of the golf course. It was built as a water tower in 1923 and disguised from the very start so as to match the mock-Tudor village. The water tank was removed over 40 years ago and the House is now rentable via AirBnB. It celebrated its centenary in February.

I pass the House often enough but cannot strictly claim that it is a water tower.

The picture is from the BBC, as it would be much better than mine (& it's too grey and wet to ride today!)

Me, being a bit of a dimwit, was so close to that and didn't see it as I was more looking for, and at, the windmill!! 😂

I've been by it 100s (if not 1000s) of times but usually in a pack or a training session or in a rush to get home. But today I actually stopped.

It's a bit hidden by the trees but this site has a better picture of it, and a bit of history.

I'm standing on the footway of the junction between Connington Lane an the Old A1. The Old A1 (now the B1043) is just behind me and parallel to that is the new A1(M). The motorway is surprisingly close but the tree belt does an amazing job of making it seem like it isnt :-)

A much larger multi legged water tower only a few hundred metres distance from the older Bluntisham/ Colne tower. The apple orchard is a small survivor of a once very large area of top fruit orchards in the Ouse Valley in East Cambs

Sunday 9th

This afternoon, we drove past the Water-Tower, between Flockton & Midgely, near the entrance to HMP New Hall, whilst 'out & about' (x 14)

It's been converted into a dwelling, with a glass lower-floor!!!
