I am, and I've never had a duff bottle from them.
They hold regular tastings about 1/4 mile from work

Not me. I work on the principle there is no such thing as a bad wine … just that some are better than others. CDP and St Emillion are even in Aldi this year at £9.99 a bottle.

Anyone in here a member? Anything particularly good in the current range(s)?

Been a member for years and never had a wine "off value" and in many cases (sic) very good QPR (quality price ratio).

This is outstanding value, kicks many a Champagne into the long grass

Well, that rather depends on what you like.
On Friday, I had some Royal Tokaji Late Harvest 2009 - a very sweet desert wine. It was every bit as good as the 2007 Aszu 5 pyttonyos, but nearly half the price - £11 rather than £21.
The South Of France mixed red case has half a dozen different wines, and they're all very good, and very good value at £6.50 per bottle. One of those (and I'm part-way through a bottle right now) is the Domaine Laborie V d P d'Oc at £5.25. Rhone mix of grapes, and I'd serve it at a dinner party with no hesitation. As I would the Domaine Hochar 2004 - £10.95 of spicy, mature red from Lebanon.
The Pelorus 2006 is better than any Champagne at under £25 IMHO - it's £18.
Like Beaujolais? The Depagneux Gamay is great, and at £4.95 it's a couple of pounds cheaper at least.

I've often been tempted to join up, but being a long term member of the Sunday Times Wine Club, I couldn't justify being a member of both.

Similar experience of never having had a bad bottle in all the years I've been with them and a customer service that's second to none

Here for rides.
I came to the conclusion that the Wine Society offered a broader selection of wines at better value prices than the Times/Laithwaites clubs so left one and joined t'other. I particularly like the fine wines schemes they run as it stops me drinking the stuff I buy as it is all sat in a cellar in Stevenage and not round ours! You pays yer money etc..

My climbing buddy has just realised that the Wine Society has got several cases of a good wine laid down in storage for him that he bought quite a few years ago and is suddenly worth a lot more than he paid for it!

I worked there one christmas about 10 years ago, but I'm not a member.

Not a bad warehouse job as they go. Found out that many celebrities *are* members.....

Laithwaites (& their many clones) are renowned in the trade for their high mark-ups - lots of their wines (most??) are exlusives therefore impossible to compare prices. I've just tried half a dozen at random and can find no comparison prices for any. The wine society sells mainly wine you can buy elsewhere and can compare prices - almost always competitive. I've never had a duff wine from them (well two corked bottles from a case one time, but a single email and the value was refunded to my account)
