but are heavier bikes faster downhill ???
I believe that is the general consensus but I'm not a fan of going fast downhill so not something I've checked
 
Well bit of a pointless and obvious thread but a lighter bike certainly makes a difference on climbs, just took 3+ minutes off of a level 4 climb in my area, happy to say the least with my purchase
It's a nice feeling isn't it? Keep a heavier bike in reserve though, otherwise you'll get used to the light one, and you won't feel the benefit. N+1 and all that:thumbsup:

Never fear the heavy bike is used for work and pulling my son along on his weehoo, I definitely feel the benefits after a day out being a mule
