Thieving B*****d Scum

Took the day off today to go for a ride with Mrs Kes.
Found the garage/shed has been broken into and all the families bikes have gone.

9 bikes, assorted wheelsets, spares and paraphenalia, all gone.... I've been left with a mismatched pair of MTB tyres and the frame from the winter bike I was refurbing... that was thrown on the drive.

Kes Jnr is gutted, he got a brand new Frog 70 cyclocross bike 2 weeks ago and was looking forward to doing some serious riding over half term,.

Thieving bastards must have turned up with a van... looks like they new exactly what they were after.
Plod and the Insurance co has been called.... just have to wait and see how well John Lewis insurance handles it.

Damn! Good luck with the insurance and I hope that @Cubist's colleagues manage to track down those responsible.

I especially feel for Kes Jnr - I had my bike stolen as a child and still remember how gutted I felt.

PS Don't forget that some thieves wait for the insurance company to pay up and then come back for the replacement bikes!

PS Don't forget that some thieves wait for the insurance company to pay up and then come back for the replacement bikes!

For that reason, when my 4 were taken from my garage the replacements were (and are) secured with motorbike security chains to substantial ground anchors!

I can't remember the web address, but someone posted a link on here ages ago that searches gumtree, ebay and others for recently listed bikes. If anyone can remember the address, perhaps you can take a look on there to see if they've appeared anywhere already?

He's 9 - Just migrated onto a 26" cross bike. They nicked that, and the Moda it replaced - we were selling that to pay for the new one.....

I suspect that Cthulhu and his minions would deal pretty well with petty thieves...... although currently I'm of the opinion that being ripped into shreds and being devoured is going easy on them.,...

Did you have the garage alarmed? Were the bikes secured?
The insurance company may ask these questions and more whilst investigating your claim, they will do all they can to squirm out of paying the full amount.
