And bomb sites were just the best playgrounds ever .

They were fabulous. My mate and I found a bomb site somewhere near the embankment around Fulham/Chelsea. It was crammed with fossiles. Big, small, in-between. It kept us in 'swaps' for ages.
I think it must have been a storage place for the Natural History Museum or some such.

The Albert Embankment use to be our swimming pool at Vauxhall . By the fire station on the river there was a tunnel under the road that all the driftwood would be gathered when the tide came in and we used to muck about all day in that . God knows how the water didn't kill us .

Tritons - all the rockers in my neighbourhood seemed to have one.

Bond Bugs - I wanted to be on the Golden Shot to win one even though I never stood a chance through being too young.

BSA Gold Stars - my mate's dad has never forgiven himself for selling his to get the deposit for a car.

The postal service delivering parcels to the post office, instead of carelessly dumping them on your front door step for all and sundry to see. At least, that's what Australia Post does these days, and I clearly recall they never used to, instead they always left a delivery note on the door step and you would then pick up the parcel from the post office.

Disabled cars, as seen in the corner of footy matches on Match Of The Day

My mate at school's dad had one and one day him, me and two other lads we were all 14ish, crammed in it for a joyride we had only gone a few hundred yards when his next door neighbour cut us up in his Hillman Minx like something out of Starsky and Hutch, but to be honest he looked more like Frank Cannon! He gave us a right bollocking and threatened us with the police. Happy days.
