Penny for the guy.
Hundreds of men on bikes riding home from the factory for lunch. ('hundreds' may not be so many from this distance).

You should listen to Radio4. They still play the anthem at the end of programmes - about 1am, just after the shipping forecast.
You beat me to it. The wife has Radio 4 on all night. :cursing:

I often time my bedtime to the shipping forecast so often still hear the national anthem.

I also have a milkman, but he delivers OJ to us - the milk couldn't compare to shop bought stuff for longevity, especially if he delivered when I'm at work and it's sat in the sun all day. The OJ tastes much superior to anything shop-bought that I've tried.

Returnable bottles anyone? The ultimate in consumer recycling, 20-30 years before it was popular.

That'd be 113.5 g now. And I bet at about four times the price, too.

So do I, when I'm on my own. I rarely hear anything after 15 minutes after I put the light out, but sometimes I wake up and hear something random from the World Service in the middle of the night. I find it relaxing if I do wake up and can't get back to sleep quickly.

Go to a decent butcher not a supermarket and you'll get some :hungry:

When I was little, our local butcher had a chicken rotisserie thing, and sawdust on the floor. I remember crouching down next to my baby sister's pushchair, playing drawing patterns in the sawdust while Mum got her shopping. Even now, the smell of a chicken rotisserie, or sawdust, takes me back there.
