come on guys, has to be this smell
when anyone was using this to paint the fence you could smell it from 5 miles away
my dad painted the shed in it just once 35 years ago and it's still going strong.

the sawmill near me often has pallets stacked with fencing timber that has been pre-treated with traditional coal tar Creosote (I love that smell too) apparently they buy it it from somewhere in Wales. I think it is double or treble the price of their own tantalised stuff. And they will only buy it in for fencing contractors, they wouldn't sell it to me for instance.

I've just bought a bar of chocolate from Aldi which contains 'popping candy'. It fizzles on your tongue like the Space Dust we used to get in the 1970s.

I remember in the 70s a couple of kids choked to death on mouthfuls of that stuff and it was then off the shelves. This seemed strange to me, and people choke to death on brocoli and that isnt withdrawn from sale.

Sounds made up.
At my school, the variation in the tale was death by stomach rupture if you mixed too much space dust with cola.

We weren't able to recreate the effect!

Elton John's new record on the radio! Not that I'm a big fan of Elton John or anything but he's one of the acts whose songs were around when I was going through my teenage years so the fact he's still around and going into a studio and producing songs that sell nowadays triggers a small but welcoming message in my brain that says 'all is well in this world'. Maybe daft but it's comforting to me, Elton John more than any of his contemporaries.

I heard that it was withdrawn because it was carcinogenic.

Many sweets, drinks, etc, have changed recipe to avoid certain food additives.
But Hanna's are still making Fizz Wiz in Scotland , as they have done so for decades.

MEanwhile,, adults keep drinking alcohol; a class 1 carcinogen.
So is benzene, which is liberated from a common preservative in readymeals/jam/soft drinks/etc.
And there's an indirect bowel cancer risk from nitrates in processed meat/fish products (ham, bacon, sausages, salami, etc).
