I don't know if anyone has said this before and it may seem obvious but cycling to work played a major role in what we used to do.
A lot of us probably cycled to school or used them to do their paper rounds. It was an easy way to get to see your friends who lived across the other side of town.
In my home town in the late sixties traffic would come to a standstill at dinner time as the workforce went to dinner on their bikes. I can even remember seeing railway workmen cycling along the side of the track to where they were working.

My dad worked at English Electric/Gec in Whetstone, the bike sheds took up as much room as the car park in the 60s.
 
Holograms! Whatever happened to them? They were all the rage in the late 70's.
I can remember going to The Light Fantastic Exhibition at the Royal Acamemy in London. As the name implies it was fantastic.
The ones In particularly liked were the ones which projected out into the room and could be viewed from different angles.
