The dip switch in the old cars used to be a button on the floor and was operated by your foot. Sometimes they would malfunction and switch all your lights off which could be fun especially if you were going into a bend.

Stick-on heated rear windscreens which promptly came unstuck at the first hint of condensation. Water entering the floorpan at the front fixed by creating a drain-hole at the back.
 
We used to buy a new pair of jeans and sit in a bath whilst wearing them so they would shrink to fit!

Damn, my model shop I went to in Hull most weekends (until I switched to bikes) closed in 2011.

I've got a vague recollection that my early Airfix Lanc. Might have had one.
