ColinJ

Puzzle game procrastinator!
  • Did my slowest ever ascent of the Cragg Vale climb.
  • Practised the foetal position for 48 hours solid while having feverish confusing conversations with my late parents.
  • Decided that there was a meaning to life and that it might be a good idea to explore it further when I wasn't quite so 'busy'.
  • Got severe carpet burns on my face, my left shoulder and right knee, but not the fun way.
  • Had a weird threesome with two women in uniform who shaved part of my chest and wired me up for fun and games.
  • Spent 8 bizarre nights sleeping with a succession of male strangers, some of whom I didn't even bother to speak to!
  • Learning to walk had been so much fun as a child that I decided to do it again.
  • Confirmed that you really can sit too still for too long, have too much beer and belly fat, and there is a limit to how much vitamin K one should consume while perfecting one's couch potato skills.
  • Discovered that more people than I'd expected to, cared enough to contact me when it really mattered.
  • Found out that my sisters would prefer me to be their son. It must be that - why else have they started phoning me virtually every day to see how I'm doing, the way our mother did after our father died?
  • Found that I had been taking my oxygen for granted. It had got so upset that it almost upped and left me this summer! We are reconciled now, and slowly rebuilding our relationship.
  • Got bored of feeling below par and decided to get slim and fit again.

Right 2012 pack your bags and !!!!!! off.
2013 when you rush in start with all the CCers who finished off 2012 really crap and poorly.
Give them a break and for the rest of us some sunshine and a wind that pushes us and not one we ride into whichever way we are going..
So to ColinJ.I wish you a better new year health wise.
i would like to try one of your rides but my knees might just explode on some of the hills you tackle.

Thanks.

I don't think I'm going to be fit enough to do the seaside century ride at the end of March next year, but I hope to do it at some point. That's a good ride for those who fancy a less hilly ride - at least 80 miles of it are flat or downhill. Why not join us for that one?

Laid a patio for the first time. Would have been nice if the idiots who laid it first hadn't farked it up so horrifically that I had to do it myself.
Next years task is to rebuild a retaining wall.
Yes - the same idiots who can't lay a patio can't build a retaining wall either.
I also hope to do a century again, and maybe aim for a double metric century. That's going to be a big, big ask...

Booked my bike onto a flight with me. I normally take it on buses, trams, trains and ferries to get to European destinations.

Rode 2 imperial centuries - and one of them was 112 miles, not the normal 100 point something
By 31st December will have done 2000 miles this year (first for me)

For 2014
Try for 120+ ride
3 imperials?

Things I've done for the 1st time this year:-

-Bought the component parts for a front bicycle wheel and put it all together myself following the lacing pattern on my MTB wheel. (I'm customising a Raleigh bike.)
-Had metal put into my left hand ring finger to help mend a bone I broke into 4 pieces falling off my bicycle in Bristol.

Things I plan to do for the 1st time next year:-

-Finish customising the Raleigh bicycle.
-Have the metal taken out of my finger.

I'm sure there'll be other 1st next year; I haven't given them much thought yet

I thought I'd seen this thread before!
Last year I didn't do a century, still less a double metric one.
However, I did manage this lot...
Stayed in a French Youth Hostel
Won a Yellow Jersey (in a tombola, granted, but I won it fair and square)
Painted a kitchen worktop so it looks like granite
Went parasailing
Got a new job
Met some great new CC friends
Met up with a few old ones @ttcycle @Plax @ianrauk amongst many others
Failed (yet again) to exceed 50mph on the Boulogne-Calais coast road.
Next year I hope to :-
Do a weeks tour on a Brompton
Do an imperial century / double metric century
Do Ventoux, at least as far as Chalet Reynard. On a Brompton
Go on a ride with @theclaud and the rest of the Swansea CC crew
Go for a ride / beer with @Shaun
