My home and old bike could be found a few years ago as I worked saved moved and worked somewhere else. This pic taken on Trent and Mersey canal at Stone. Different boat and in a marina now and on a river but miss the canals.

Canals are primarily there as navigations. The Fenland cuts, lodes and drains were designed primarily as drainange - which is why they're not called canals.

Round here a "Cut" is just another term for the Canal.

I saw a couple shagging in the passenger seat of a car - a woman walking her dogs had stopped to have a very close look - is that why it's called doggin?

I beleive it originally came from when the Police or nosey indivduals asked what they were doing in bushes, they would just say

'I'm walking/waiting for /looking for the dog.
