For me, it’s a smart saddle-bag, cotton duck starts off looking scruffy and gets worse as it fades and frays. Father had an all-leather one, really sets his bike off in the old photos I have.

Have you had a look at Spa Cycles? They do some nice leather ones, or canvas if you prefer.

Trouble is the leather ones are too small. I might see a leather worker about getting fathers old one copied, too far gone to restore.
