Nice in the sun today but it's not quite spring if my fingers go numb while washing the bikes because the temperature still falls like a stone as the sun goes down.
Yeah a couple of times I was thinking that some full finger gloves my be needed all i have currently is a pair of full winter gloves and the fingerless mits I have been using whilst the bike is on the Turbo for comfort.

Lightning hit the ground about 15m to my right when I was out today. It wasn't even raining. I was dawdling along in a world of my own. I'd say it was quite a shock, but could've been worse.
Blimey - terrifying!
I was once in my tent on a campsite in Zimbabwe when a tree was hit by lightning. Loudest thing I have ever heard in my life.

First big ride of the year. I've been putting in 80-90 miles a week commuting right through winter. Today, first time this year in shorts and a jersey. 57 miles over Holme Moss in a big loop. Still snow up at the top! You could feel spring in the air for sure. Loads of riders out and about Holmefirth area today.

How was the ride?

F'ing terrible! I haven't felt as sore and tired in ages. Cramping right thigh and both calves on the way home, sore ass, triceps cramping, shoulders and neck sore. I could have thrown the bike in a hedge on the way home. Instrument of torture that it was today. However That's my first proper ride of the year done. It can only get better from here.

I've always worn eye protection since a bumble bee bounced off my eyeball about 20 years ago.:B) Something attached itself to my calf yesterday. I flicked it off and saw a little red hole it'd left.

shoulders and neck sore. .

Thought my neck/shoulders were sore today in the cold wind (first long ride in many months), but it was nothing compared the guy I stopped to help near Effingham. He kept muttering about his brand new Tri bars; he'd somehow come off the bike and broken his clavicle.

That'll be some sort of tick...expect it to get very itchy and keep an eye for infection. I've been attacked by a few of these

Not much Spring happening in the Yorkshire Dales and there's still snow lying on the tops but we managed 28 miles including the killer climb up the east side of Malham Tarn then along Mastiles Lane and an incredible hooligan descent back to Settle overtaking a couple of bumbling cars.

Heard some curlews though, which always gives optimism.

I spent most of Sat and San outside - supervising decking and summerhouse assembly. Still needs the windows and doors fitting. Hopefully the CT Scan results I get soon will allow me to do a bit more.
