Sorry, don't get that ?

Is this not a good comment or something ?

Still learning the ropes kind of.

I intentionally tried to be as nice as I could & less of an ass than usual.

Apologies if offended.

Not at all- no probs. it's just a bit if a perennial debate on here that's all, and has its own section called helmets and headphones or similar. Only the bravest dare go there ! I'm on a silly phone now and unable to post a link- probably for the best.
Welcome aboard by the way^_^

Gotcha.

Lesson learned.

I now understand the 'pop corn' thing now that I am in the loop.

Cheers.

Following our 5th successful 'Abingdon Cycling Festival' the other weekend and a change in the light and weather, we've all kinds of cyclist once again coming out of the woodwork for our Thursday evening social rides, about 30 last night split into 3 groups, Mellow, Medium and Fast.
In the Mellow group we had an age span of 74 years!

Members of all groups convened at the end at the KH&B for free chip butties and recovery pints.

There's definitely a 'market' for social/leisure cycling groups, if you feel the need, start your own 'Freewheeling' style group and feel the love xx

It's not about the bike, the speed or the lycra ... it's about bringing people together and good times.
I googled High 5 & SIS Go 'recovery pints'.
Seems that there might be a gap in the market.

Edit.

I will gift you 30% of my new company for the naming rights for Fab Foodies Fruity Ale Recovery Drink.

Looks fun although all the lycra and lids would put me off.. If there's similar for old duffers in jeans I'd be up for it^_^

The chip butties with brown bread is putting me off more, vile!

I don't think we should turn this into a helmet debate, it's not the place to point out how rubbish they are.

In case you missed it from page 1 FF.
Sorry Tiny, I've been in and out of the lab today like a dog in a butchers door this afternoon! Yes we are affiliated to the CTC, they (Steve Swanson from Wantage CTC - a local cycling hero) was instrumental in helping-us get started.
The insurance becomes an issue once you become more than a group of friends riding and start becoming an organised group. The CTC requirements for affiliated insurance are relatively straight-forward however. But you do need to raise some basic funds to pay for it hence our £4 membership covers the club insurance and maintaining the website (which you don't need) and a few fighting funds for the festival.
dellzeqq's your man. Don't let it put you off starting something however small ... or Tiny xx

Lids please.

Sorry, absolutely not.
In our club it's purely personal choice, there is no lid advocacy as there is no requirement in law or data to suggest they're beneficial. There is strong data to suggest that enforcing lids reduces cycling which is absolutely contrary to what we are trying to achieve. The other Abingdon club has a strict No helmet No ride policy, there are reasons why some don't cycle with them.

We are contemplating starting 'no-lycra' rides however.
