When I was back-packing round NZ, a kiwi was appalled to discover I'd been eating possum. He recommended an old possum recipe: "You get a big dixy, stick in the cut-up possum, add water and a few rocks, then boil it up, let it simmer for a couple of hours, then throw away the possum and eat the rocks."

You are a bit mean with punctuation..
And you are generous with the full stops.

In the last year of my mum's life she had to tube feed herself. She spent lots of her time wishing she could eat all the stuff she really enjoyed, meat pies, toast etc. She took pleasure out of smelling some of the foods I made for my sister and I over the two months we looked after her. Because she couldn't eat she saved over £14,000 from not buying food.

On her last awake day after the tube was removed, she figured that if she couldn't feed herself she would try and drink as much tea and water she could, even though it was difficult. She even had some guinness when her oldest friends came round to see her. She had a very good day that day.

There is something desperately wrong with society if we have to scrimp and save on food to keep living. We need food to survive. We seem to value as a society having a TV License, running a car, owning the latest gadget over buying decent health tasty food.

I think of my mum when I eat something and think that she would have really enjoyed eating this if she was still alive. We don't go out to buy expensive food stuff, but we try and buy things that we enjoy eating. I never want to be in that situation again of having to eat porridge for a month or having to scrape together a few pounds to find a meal.

I know that there are people out there who have to rely on food banks to feed themselves and their families. It is sad that it has resulted to this and that our country is suffering due to high food prices.

I got put through to a special department who (I think) tried to embraress me into not canceling half my package by asking if it was because I was too poor, to which I replied 'of course'.
I replaced my phone at the weekend, on line. I had had it for about 5 years and the screen was faulty. I only replaced it with another basic smartphone, as £13 a month, but was asked whether I could afford it.

2 litre of Morrison's / Asda cola for 18p.

Awesome to have a week's work of fizz for less than a quid.

Asda Cloudy Lemonade for me last week! 2L for around 50p. Any supermarket stuff will do, I was just at Asda last week. Bought 4 days worth of lunch from Sainsbury's today for £2, which I used to buy from the local corner shop for £6+.

We're buying more and more own brand food each time we do a shop. It's amazing how much further your money goes when you're buying 18p cola, 30p for 6 pitta breads, 49p loaves and 33p for a pack of 4 yoghurts!

I virtually only buy own brand, and most often the Basics own brand at that. There are some that I've tried and found not to be so nice, but quite often the Basics stuff is only odd sized stuff that doesn't make it into the 'better' stream. And quite often the own brand stuff comes off the same production line as the branded. I remember when I worked at Iceland, 20 years ago, we were told that Nabisco make all Weetabix and wheat-bisks. (Although Sainsburys basics wheat-bisks are one thing where I found them to be lacking, so the supermarkets may now source the lowest price ones elsewhere)

I something wonder if the staff think I have some sort of OCD-autism about food, because I tend to buy Red Leicester cheese, and sometimes, if I've bought an orange pepper too, my entire shop is orange and white!
