I have a pair of muddy fox padded shorts .... they are good!
Everybody slates them saying the padding is erm pants, I found them to be alright and for a tenner you can't go wrong.

Exactly mate ... i bought them when i first started .... the list of essentials was growing and growing (track pump, micro pump, shoes, pedals, levers, garmin, lights etc) ... so i decided my naturally padded ass didn't need the best padding ... these fitted the bill.
6 months on and they are doing fine ..... i've lost 2 stones and they are still comfy!!!

I bought a pair of DHB Vaeon Roubaix padded bib tights from Wiggle. Never worn Lycra or tights before but wanted something comfy and warm to cycle in when the weather gets chilly and something that wouldn't catch my chain. Very pleased with them. Bit self conscious first time out but that was the same for wearing a helmet and I soon got over that. I feel good in mine and have no hang ups about them now. In fact I think they're pretty cool actually :becool:
Made up with mine Dave, they are great quality . Who cares what we look like. So long as I'm warm in winter I'm happy on my bike.

The Muddyfox pad seems to go flat and stops working after about 90 minutes on the bike, I recently picked up a pair of bTwin padded bib shorts for £15 and the padding is 100x better - used it on a five hour ride with no problems what so ever. It's well worth the extra £5.

I wear padded shorts with unpadded tights over the top for winter. I'm not sure whether it saves me money or not, but it has the same flexibility as shorts and leg warmers because you can take the tights off if you get too hot.

You can pull down leg warmers without stopping, that's their main selling point.

I use knee warmers. Less material to bunch round the ankle, and I find it is my knees that suffer in the cold, not calves or thighs. Also I can take off the knee warmers easily, sometimes without stopping, struggle to do that with leg warmers

I think quite a bit of the DHB is good quality. Gets good reviews and judging by these tights I can see why. I might get some of the Zero's when the weather gets really nippy and a set of shorts for when things warm up. Is there a "I bought these and they're really good" thread anywhere?

So they end up bunched round your ankles? That's quite weird.

Weird or not, that's their function. Same with arm warmers. Obviously this stuff is race derived, but you'd be surprised how often you find you'd rather not stop just now, but you are feeling quite hot.

To reassure you, they bunch around your ankles quite tightly, like big black socks, rather than Nora Batty stylee...
